hehe...really, just ignore him Illysia. Novacadian managed to set a new record for becoming a "bitter oldbie"...okay, oldbie really is wrong in his case...so only a "bitter player". It took me 3 years until my posts got as bitter as his...Illysia more than 4 or 5 years, Lhaa also 4...even Akkaido needed 2 years. And he managed to get like this in what...4 months? We should pay him respect for realizing in such a short time what PS makes of too dedicated players. So better just ignore his trolling and only take the very few pearls of wisdom he has to offer before he disappears into void again mumbling in insanity "But the timeline...the timeline is wrong":

Oh, another thing in the life lessons of a rl oldbie; enjoy yourself and every moment and don't get stuck on the bitter side of life. Life's too short and precious to waist it in a pool of bitterness. My advice would be to move on from that which makes one bitter.

Seems we have a good example in him what happens to someone if realization of this happens to late.


But back on topic...LOL...people are still afraid of a wipe? The last full wipe happened at the version change from atomic blue to molecular blue...that is 7 years ago now and there wasn't that much to wipe. It took 4 years to move from 0.3 to 0.4 (okay..and only one year to move to 0.5, but still...). At this rate the game will reach version 1.0 in what...20 years? 40? And before that I wouldn't expect any major wipe...not as long as Talad is in lead. Keeping people PLing is more important than such minor things like cleaning a database or allowing some major mechanic changes.

what about the people who have never one? all the newbs, are you just going to let them skip the experiance of massive training?

Any newb, can look up planeshifts. abck-story, and any newb could look online to find out about guilds, quests, or trainers, so there isnt really a quiz a newb wouldnt be able to pass

Well, it seems that Timmy was right. Wow, now that felt funny to say. 

Don't worry Illysia, you can safely disagree with both of those guys. I'm pretty glad with what PlaneShift has become and 3, 4 years is what I call an oldbie's break. I've been here longer than most of you, but I don' consider myself an oldbie... I'm a midbie, right where the virtue is.

It's just not true that most dedicated players become bitter. LigH's usually got a smile on his face and so have plenty of people who are actually players and not forum dwellers. Hey, I have a smile on my face and I have to put up with all the sobbing and sulking!
The ones that become bitter are those who perceive the task of improving PlaneShift as impossible to be carried out by their mortal manifestations. Let me say I state my pity and compassion for that kind of people, for I have been in that same mud.

As far as wipes go... I think they're actually required, once in a while (for mechanical reasons). I don't agree with propping up the old players, but I won't mind using whatever is given to me, like I used my ring of the past until I gave it to someone who actually used it.
