Pause Combat

Well I just thought why can't someone pause combat if they need to go, like if the phone rings etc?

When you Pause Combat it will probably only happen on NPCs to stop people annoying others in duels. It will freeze your whole game, so you cant move, speak or do anything. It also will make an auto reply in /tells that you are away or whenever someone uses your name. Of course the autoreply will be in [brackets].

sound like a good idea? Also you might be able to pause while not in combat... but yes, add to the idea.

But you are just sitting there paused, and whenever someone says your name or /tells you an auto reply pops up.
Or you could even disappear. Or a way to log out simply and quickly to the login screen, and still be able to login.

I don't know expand on the idea.

You can "/stopattack" and "/target clear". But NPCs won't care and keep hitting you. Diplomacy with NPCs is obviously not implemented.

Excuse this lame joke ... but other people may now wish a "pause guild house robbery" function to freeze thieves until a GM was called...

"Life goes on" in a shared reality. There is no "pause life" in your real life either. If you get distracted in a battle, you will offer your enemy a chance to kill you. Your decision wether to answer the phone immediately or call back after the battle. But then be concerned about addiction symptoms.

There are just to many ways for this to be mis-used. besides, MMORPG's are full time games, your game doesn't even pause when you go offline, the whole idea of pausing is'nt somthing that could work well.

anyway, I totally agree with weltall and LigH. there's no such thing as pause in an online multiplayer game - just doesn't make sense

PS: you shouldn't play while you (intend to) work, anyway

instead of pausing combat we need a button that pauses your family so they cant annoy you while your in the middle of combat
