Ok so most of my art is on paper, and i have to manhandle my sisters ancient scanner to get anything done.

but here is one picture. it is done with Jasc Paint Shop pro. and took me many many moons to complete.

I call it a Turran. The picture makes it look way more knobly that i mean it to be.

Species: Lizard (male)
Habitat: high mountains and very rocky areas (caves?)

Devs won\'t give any scale because they don\'t know yet. So you should just create a scale: just say if it is weak, average, powerfull or very powerfull.
You can even compare with things we already know like goblins, giant spiders, or dragons. Well that is what i would do.

Grouping monsters.

One of them wouldn?t be too difficult to kill.  It would be in the low to moderate category.  But when you have two of them on you their individual attack strength doubles.  There armor class also increases.  If three of them are on you attack strength quadruples and so on.  The maximum number of monsters that can attack you at the same time is based on their size.  It is also based on whether the monsters can flank you.

Background information: this monster takes advantage of good elves that go bad.  It starts off as a wondering drone.  In elf female with a taste for power selects the drone as a mate.  They have offspring at a greatly accelerated rate.  Instead of the usual one child per pregnancy they will have seven to twelve.  Birthing happens every month. The children are mature after year.  Their life span is about 25 years each.  The children are essentially pine sized flesh eating monsters and a few drones.  They are totally at the command of the elf female.  Even if the elf starts off with good intentions they will be corrupted.

Name: little terror

Class weight: grouping monster, a little over half weight and height of an elf.

Physical Traits: harry elf hunched over with large pointy ears.
Physical Attacks: two slashes and a bite
Magical Attacks: none
Items Dropped: random coins but not often.

Life/Hit Points: low to low moderate.

while I\'m here, has anyone talked about monster AI?

I\'m tired of seeing the same thing all the time, monster sees you, monster attacks you, stupid monster, no cookie...

I\'d like to see monsters that act on a slightly higer lvl of comprehension. I think everyone here gets that point

I\'d also like to see monsters that can independantly lvl up. enough n00bs go someplace that they shouldn\'t, the monsters that kill them get xp, lvling up and becoming more powerful monsters, I can just see it now, a rampaging ant terrorising the city... course that\'s just an extreme idea, but you understand what I\'m thinking now... I\'ll just shut up and stop acting like a dumbazz

so how would a new player fight if he discovered Planeshift a year later? I don\'t think it\'d be fair for someone new in the game to fight monsters that are way beyond his experience.
My name is NOT pronounced, \"Kway-per,\" it\'s pronounced \"Kye-per.\"

I want dinosaurs!

Name: Rexo
Skill level: Medium - high

Attack: Stomp, bite
Magic attack: Fossilize - slows down or freezes the victim for a period of time, depending on Rexo\'s level.

Appearance: T-rex, basically, with crystals embedded all the way down its spine.

There could be variations as well, like there could be a part of the dungeons where there were loads of different dinosaurs and there would be a couple of Rexos but there could be lots of little dinosaurs like the raptors out of Jurassic Park.

I want undead... no game is worth playing if it hasn\'t got undead IMO :P

Lich

Lvl: Powerful - Very Powerful

Attacks - Touch of darkness: The lich touches you and you feel a strange freezing sensation, damaging your health and draining your mana, transfering it to the lich, and has a slight chance of cursing you.
Also has the ability to use weapons and armor like PC\'s

Magic abilities: Very powerful mage, has the most deadliest of the damage spells available in PS

Appearance: well everybody knows how a skeleton looks... just add some glowing red/green/blue eyes depending on the power of the lich... and it wears armor or clothes like chain mail, plate mail, or just a woolen robe...

heh, the thing is that when a lvled monster was killed, unlike adventurers, it\'s career would be over.
areas would have the preset monster lvls that spawn there, say near starting towns lvl one monsters spawn, players fight them and all that, sometimes a lvl one would get killed by a lvl one monster, maybe one of them lvls up, he\'s now a lvl 2 monster with a slightly higher AI, dependant apon personality(I\'d love to see monsters with personalities... be great in taming too...) it might stick around and fight lowbies, or it might move into slightly higher territory... hell, It might even train monsters around him, if you wanna add a bit more challenge to the game

I also kind of doubt that any monster would lvl to the point it couldn\'t be taken out, I mean that would be a lot of pc\'s killed, and I doubt that every monster in any given area would lvl a lot. but I do think it would be an interesting thing to incorporate into the game.

I like your idea tyger, it would add some diversity to \"the art of killing mobs\" ;) and mob cultures could rise from feeble AI to greatness if one of their kind trained them... then you could organize raids on the more powerful mobs.. It would be great fun IMO :D

I think so...

can\'t wait till I\'m smart enough to incorporate my ideas into the ultimate MMO! course, knowing me, that\'s like waiting for a rabbit to fly out my butthole, maybe a little less likely...

Ghoul

Of all the terrible fates lying dormant within the bodys of man, one of the most horrible is the corruption of body and mind that turns an ordinary mortal into a ghoul. Nor is the condition easy to eradicate, for ghouls beget ghouls and generations of foul, corpse eating creatures, devoid of all but the most rudimentary reason.

Ghouls cavort naked around graveyards under the palid light of the moon. They are frightening to look upon, having dark rancid skin, mad glinting eyes and slavering mouths which spew blood and pus. Although thin and stooped, they are ivery strong and insanly ferocious. They leap upon thier unfornunate victim, tearing with long filthy nails and biting with thier sharp pointed teeth. however, they are cowardly creatures at best and will flee if they are getting the worse of the fight

Apperance:

Ghouls retain the basic outlines of ordinary men and women(or elves or whatever), however, there bodys have become stooped and bony, whilest there hair is long and matted, or else absent alltogether. Thier faces present a bestial leer, with curled lips exposing enlarged teeth. Most ghouls are naked, whilest retaining a few rags they once wore as true men

Rules:

Cause fear
slash/claw attacks
they will retreat if they are loosing a fight

Difficulty:

Medium

Name: Hero Spirit
Skill level: Medium - high

Attack: Sword, Mace, hammer, axe, staff (depends)
Magic attack: Depending on the type of the spirit, if it is a wizard spirit it gets strong magic attacks, if it\'s a fighter spirit it get attacks with element attributes (such as a sword that shoots fire)

Appearance: Character model, transparant, red eyes, blood on clothes, sword or weapon in their chest

Info: The spirits of great fighters and magicians, such as kings and princes. they were slaughtered brutally, and their spirits hate the living. They are mostly seen at the places where they died, such as plains. Whenever they see a living creature, wether animal or human, they will attack them on sight. Even though they are strong, they might flee when they think they can\'t win anymore.

The power of Fire should not be underestimated...NEVER!

Mriswith
(okay i stole the idea)
(but i like it)
small humans covered in scales they wear a long coat that bends the air making them almost dissapear.
they are very good at knives, only attack if there attacked, wander anywere at will, steal food when hunger hits, sometimes befriends players to try to turn them into mriswith,,, high level npc\'s travel in groups

Bolderdogs
stone dogs that dont\' have blood, the easiest way to kill
is with an earthquake or something that shatters it, (better be a strong sword or it will be shattered) mage throws earth or rock at it for example
their weapon, teath and claws, run on 4 legs, 3 feet high can jump up to 10 feet high
extremely hard to kill

just an idea
