Fish
« on: November 03, 2010, 12:25:26 pm »
I recently noticed that all fish types can be sold to NPCs for the same price. This is unfair because some fish types are hard to catch while other ones are pretty easy.So that makes fishing training useless.

Did you also find if a matching bugtracker task already exists? ... This is surely to be addressed to the Rules department, which also may have to check the catching chance related to the description.

Found: PS#4497

Imbalance is a bug. And the reason is simply ... noone yet had enough responsibility and time to calculate the optimal value of each fish species. Probably.

And this task may not be as trivial as it sounds. Imagine future cooking recipes based on some of the fishes - they would have to be taken into account already now.

Basically anything that is an issue with IG mechanics or faulty in the game and things addressed to the devs should go on bugtracker. Complaints department is more for the conversation/discussion and things addressed possibly more to the GMs, complaints about GMs though shouldn't be in here. Its rather complicated but yeah.

And again wow more unbalanced crap, not surprised.
You maybe roleplaying but you could still be OOC.

My experience, as a Mud Wizard, is that as long as a game is in development there will always be balancing to be done. In this example new fish are introduced; balancing is needed. The alternative is no new development; no new fishies. For a static game with balancing finished and no unbalanced crap; my suggestion would be to buy something that comes wrapped in cellophane and a CD inside.

Wasnt meaning that. Ive been playing planeshift since the time balance was not known in these forums.

I understand that yes give them 3months they should get there and have it fixed, but its been nearly a year for the mob balancing.

Balance has always been known here, at least to a few. But you cannot balance a system that doesn't exist in game. Fish and fishing have basically just been added in the PS timeline, balance must come after introducing the system into the game. As well, all systems cannot be balanced until all systems are in game. Balancing is a process that is going to go on for years, as there are specific people available to work on the specific systems in game.

Vakachehk What part of Planeshift is a game in heavy development that is years and years and years and years away from completion don't you understand? during this time different things are going to be tried to discover what works and what doesn't work. Some times changes are going to make things better and some times changes are going to mane things worse. changes are not going to happen overnight and sometimes may take a few years to happen.

Balancing to me doesn't sound that hard, its just a fiddle around till you find it easy/easier to use, I do however would find fish pretty hard to balance out but that just takes a bit of research figure out which is rare and what aren't then apply the tria to that and there you have it. The big picture of what I am saying is to concentrate on what problems PS has now instead of doing something else or making more problems.

Imbalance is a bug.

I'm sorely tempted to sig that...  Bugs are unintentional glitches, imbalance in something such as the combat system, or NPC price system is not a bug, it's just something being ignored, or designed improperly.

So Sarva what I mean in both threads, is that PlaneShift went off to implement fishing, YAY SOMETHING NEW COME PLAY OUR GAME WE ARE PROGRESSING!!!! When really they now have 2 things to re-balance, not just the one mob re-balance. Instead if they kept there high horses down then they might of had the chance to re-balance the mobs -then- think about adding something else in that they can re-balance. Instead of piling it all up and leaving till the very end. :)
