...but I'm not an admin...
« on: November 12, 2010, 07:05:54 pm »
When I open the game, it puts me on what I'm assuming is the update screen.
Only, this little window pops up and says:

An update is available but you don't have the correct permissions to continue!
Please restart the program as an admin!

I clicked "OK" and then tried to use the "repair" button, but that just took me to a screen with a black box in the middle (which I'm also assuming is where it's supposed to tell you what's being repaired...?) and another "OK" button on the bottom right.  I let it sit for a while, but nothing ever happened.
My fiance and I have both tried to figure out the problem with no luck.  I scoured the forums trying to find someone with a similar problem, but I couldn't find anything.
I just updated all of his computer's drivers and such, so I don't THINK that's the problem.  Am I overlooking something obvious?

Assuming you are running Windows, you can usually just right click and choose run as administrator, but it would depend on how you have the Windows users set up. You might just have to run the game through whichever user is an admin in order to update it.

I'm running on Window's Vista right now.
The right click thing worked.  Thank you.
I feel a little silly now.

Resistance is futile. You'll be assimilated.

I have a Windows Vista as well, and I got the same problem. The only difference is that I AM an Admin. ?? Please help. I feel like I'm missing something really obvious.

being admin is different from executing something as admin
right click pslaunch and use the "run as administrator" option instead of normally running it.
that way it's not just executed as admin user, but with administrator *rights*
