New Here
« on: November 22, 2010, 06:41:10 pm »
New here, but avid roleplayer looking for (hopefully) a home.  I have a few questions, I hope to get answered before I dive in:

  • 1. How unfinished is Planeshift? (Is everything in, but buggy?  Missing many things? ect.  Mostly wondering if you can go around, quest, level up your character ect. or if you can only roleplay?)
  • 2. Are there any guilds/clans/groups here for newbies that wish to RP and be part of something from the beginning?
  • 3. Are there any RP "hangouts" where a new player (and character) would be welcome to drop in and try to get involved in RP?

Thanks all who read!  Hopefully will get a reply by the time Planescape is finished updating on my computer  \\o//

Welcome Lennie.

 * 1. How unfinished is Planeshift?

As Rinenud said.

  * 2. Are there any guilds/clans/groups here for newbies that wish to RP and be part of something from the beginning?

If your character is a follower of the god, Talad, you would be most welcome among the Brotherhood of Talad. If not there are many other Guilds to choose from.

   * 3. Are there any RP "hangouts" where a new player (and character) would be welcome to drop in and try to get involved in RP?

The Stonehead in Gug and just hanging out near the NPC, Harnquist,  just beside the Hydlaa Plaza are two other good places to pick up RP.

You'd do better checking the Guild's section in the forums, than that outdated list novacadian showed. That would still be doing pretty low though. I advise you to go in-game and type /who to see which guilds are kicking it.
Disclaimer: This is my opinion and I can be reasoned with. I'm probably right, though.

that list is more up to date than the guild forums.

Because the Guilds page reads the guilds from the database, it is the most current list; but because it shows any members regardless of their last appearance, it is also a little misleading. The displayed number of members shows all members of about the last 3 years (up to the point where inactive accounts were deleted), not necessarily the members who were active during the last month.

Nevertheless, it is still a kind of orientation. Just don't overrate it.

And the threads in the Guilds forum area also contain more or less verbose descriptions about some guilds. Read there too to find a selection of guilds you might be interested in. Take your time in game to get to know their members before joining one. Take your time to listen to the talk of the town. Read a newspaper (sold each weekend by Raikana).

The most usual place to meet is surely Harnquist's forge at the Hydlaa plaza. Kada-El's tavern up on the Highwatch is another frequented place. And when you feel like traveling out of town (best with a guide, ask e.g. an 'Explorer'), the Stonehead tavern in Gugrontid or Th' Broken Door in Ojaveda - Akkaio are recommendable places.

And getting personal: [A post for RPers to find Rpers]

wrong it lists last year logins. some guilds would show double if it checked all the accounts in the db.
