OpenAL is a sound standard http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Openal

if you don't get any music, it may be possible you're lacking the hardware support and the software sound fails

anyway, make sure you actually set the sound to openal in pslaunch before trying it as the software sound is known to have issues on some setups and the client already comes with openal-soft which either acts as a wrapper to openal or directly uses whatever sound system is available, so you shouldn't need openal itself unless you have and want to use hardware sound acceleration

very strange though, i have a brand new high-end pc of dell...
is downloading openal a risk for when i want to play other games? is it possible that it interferes the sound of other games?

edit: I do hear other sounds of the game though, like when im standing close to a fire

no, it shouldn't interefere with other games or pose any risk

anyway, if you hear the sound of other things, that's not the issue

did you check ingame in the options that you actually have background music enabled?
also try to move to another sector and then back (there was some issue related to background music in the current release client that'll be resolved in the next one)

(other subject) also, i am stuck behind a wall, on a small plain in the city and i cannot get out, and because i still can walk around on that plain, i cannot use unstick... is it possible for a gm to tp me to an other location?

thx for the help so far :)

What is your character name? Als do you see a sign post in the area? If you do then right clich on the ground near the sign post and use the enter/use icon to port out of there.
