i think the maps should be included in the final version to make it easy to get from place to place and to know where you are in the game.

I don\'t care if this thread has been done before :P I\'ve read through them and there are other aspects to be discussed.

Official maps released with the complete game or on the site are a bad idea. They remove a huge element of entertainment from the game which is that of adventure and discovery!

Short-range in-game maps, both in dungeons and overland are another matter. If a simple map is generated in a small, optional window as you walk, it can really help to at least take stock of your bearings. It should just render what your character can see. A mapping system like this has worked very well in games such as runescape, while removing nothing from the fun.

well, i don\'t see why we would need (auto)maps ...most players know the city by heart already ...i\'d be more interested in good road-signs then maps

I agree with hook. If a topic has been discussed before, and I wish to post somethign similar, I bump it back to the top. Sure, it gets annoying, but at least there is more to discuss. So instead of getting everyone angry by posting threads that were already discussed, especailly old-timers, perhaps you can bump threads back to the top. I believe the topic is labeled \'Cartography,\' but I\'m not too sure.
