Fix For MacOSX Update (5.5)

* Caraick waves to all the Mac users out in PS World!

If any of you all have been an issue with the new update, this may help you troubleshoot the problem, it's a very simple fix if you're having this problem.

If you've opened up PSLaunch in your PS folder, under Applications,  clicked "YES" when prompted to update, then watched in delightful glee as your download began, only to have it quit before ending, or just as it ended, then you've had the same issue as me :)

FIX:  When asked to update, click "NO", then proceed to click the "REPAIR" option towards the bottom of the window.  After a quick integrity check, PS Launch will present you with a laundry list of items to download for the update.  Click yes, then sit back and enjoy some macaroons, you've gotten the update.  The download will finish after a few minutes, and voila! You're back in game!


A simple fix for a pretty easy problem that had me frustrated for a bit, hope this helps someone!!

Same here, except the smiley :(
After that, pslaunch doesn't open, i get an error message saying that the application doesn't work with this version of osx and the following report:

I've re-downloaded the game but nothing changed. Looks like the update did something to that dylib-thing. Now what?

Hi Folks,

i have the same problem. First i had an error warning while loging in - something with sound.lib.null (or else) wouldnt load.
i have repaired the client wit ps_launch. After the last try this error warning didnt appear any more but the same thing:

it connects, i logs in, it loads, i get a short view over the scene (2 seconds) and the client crashes with something like "client static"..

i guess there is a major bug in the client for osx. it seems that they have already fixed one-two things in the client meanwhile.
but it crashes still.

its not my mac, because the machine is just a jear old and the os is on the highest level. osx 10.5.8
ive tried to quit all other apps, also the firewall, to be sure that its not the connection but it doesnt help.

im slightly irritaded that there is no information like: yes we have a problem and were working on it (or not) or else.

guess we have to wait for a working upgrade.

Something is strange since I am using a Mac with OSX 10.6.5 and it works fine for me. One thing to always try is to reduce the graphics settings in the pslaunch app. Also make sure you have the latest updates since a couple have some out today.

have still the same thing. crashes after loading the map.
i have done the latest update a few minutes ago and also the repair option.

if you've used tools to slim down libraries, or changed the install in order to not install 32bit libraries we don't support your os. check this with file and the path you've there if it doesn't say i386 then you need to find a replacement for the slimmed down library

Hey thx, a developer, great.

Hm, ive nothing special on my os. slim down libraries? like a compression, right? Some libraries have the suffix .sit but they are as they are. Yesterday ive unpacked them all for a try - was no good idea. So i went back to the original and it runs until the common crash.

The installer is quite simple: open the .dmg and drag the folder planeshift to the application folder. Nothing esle.

Maybe i should say, that the previous version 0.5.4 was running without any problems.

Since i havent changed anything on the os surface or settings the new version should run without any trouble in the same invironement, right?
The only thing ive done was to delete all files that had anything to do with planeshift before installing the new version.

A hint would be nice:
-what folders have to be where
-how can i detect slimed down libs
-how do i know if a slimed down lib is correct or isnt

I mean, i have a common MacBook with an uptodate osx 10.5.8 and no special things on it. It cant be so difficult to get this game running..
The installation manual is, by the way, too old to be true - no go (what is it 2005?) so there is no help from this side.

my answer was for bazadaj in your case the libraries are ok but you are suffering another type of crash. if you could give informations about your hw it could help.  also you should try a repair.

Hi,

im certain that the problem is not on my computer.

Ive crashed at oja several times and a few minutes ago once more traveling there from hydla
So it is definitively the game. (+mac sicne i know that other people were there when i crashed)

With a short /die i made my way back to hydla. Heres everything fine.

Go to your pslaunch app and look under settings then graphics and see if you have background loading world on. If you do change it to models or off.

Fixed! :) Probably I did something with the libraries when I tried to install Crystal Space :-\
I've reinstalled X11 from the cd and everything is fine now.
