First Monsters in the game
« on: May 26, 2003, 10:39:42 am »
Hey i know this has possibly been talked about. but its important for when the very first monsters go into the game. I would really like it if there was some kind of story line or reason for the monsters to be there instead of just shoving them in for a test kinda thing, make it really interesting and scary. like the one peaceful city of hydlaa has now become a breeding ground for evil creatures stealing all the crystals once plentiful in these ancient lands..etc  or whatever but damn i cant wait someone please tell me when the next awesome thing will be added to this alreaady awesome game. sorry devs i dont wanna add stress with a timelimit but damn.. im one eager beaver

Eager Beaver I am to I just don\'t let it show as much  :D

I think the first creatures in the game should instead of stealing crystals have somthing in common with them like they creatures at birth imbed crystals in there heads the better the crystal the stronger the creature is this would:
A: gives us somthing to Hunt
B: make the current crystal hunting more fun

id like  to see rats in the city it is a medevil city.!  and id also liek to see some thing thats oviosly weak in the start like wolves or some sort of realistic creatures i think you guys have plenty of time to make a drastic plot change all i see to start is a creature that drops hides half the time and a n00b quest.

No rats, try to come up with something better than that. I\'m tired of chopping down rats since I\'ve done it to many times already.
No realistic monsters on the whole. That\'s what fantasy is all about.

I want to start out by killing dragons?then making the rats the root of all evil and thus the hardest thing to kill.

This is mostly a joke, but not all the way?it would be cool to kill some giant lizards early on in my opinion?but I don?t think it will happen.

In reality we will hopefully have some normal stuff to kill and some fantasy stuff but most will be small early on?but that might change later, I really have no idea and we really have not put too much thought into creature additions during alpha?and sorry to disappoint but other then a few quests or so we won?t. any creatures we add early on is because they are in 3D and animated?they will fit whatever need we have for testing?later on they may change in difficulty but we will give some warning.

The first and original thing to kill should be a run-of-the-mill human being, plainly dressed and very weak. From then on we should buld up to fire-breathing lizard-dragon or whatever you guys suggested.

I WANNA KILL SOME GNOLLS DAMMIT!!!

lol, gnolls, trolls, ogres  are the best creeps.

But I don\'t see how they would fit inside the castle.
So when the first monsters come, the doors would have to be opened.

Progression on enemies
Here\'s my idea of a good \'flowchart\' for enemies

-Young Wolves, Small bears, other angry animals that can actually hurt a person in armor.
-Minor Brigands, Wolf packs, adult bears
-Experienced Brigands, Unnatural animals (et Dire Wolves, Worgs), Other Races (ogres, trolls, etc)
-Minor Undead (skeleton, zombie), Other Race Specialty (Ogre Magi, Troll Bezerkers), Minor magical creatures (imps)
-Major Undead (Vampires), Were-creatures aka Lycanthropes, Major magical creatures (hell hounds)
- Dragons, Liches, Demons
- Adult Dragons, Greater Demons
- Demigods
- Avatars of Gods
- Gods

I know this goes straight to the top, but I figured why not.   It\'s a fantasy game, right? ;)

I think the first monsters should use the defence of being so unbearably cute you actually feel bad for hurting them :D

Later monsters are scary because they\'re so repulsively titanic and covered with teeth, just looking at them makes you lose hp :]

The ultimate monsters should be super-small, squeaky and cute... if only for the \'hahaha watch me beat heck out of this stupid litt- AAAAGGGHHH MY EYES!!! ITS EATING MY HEAD!!!\' fun of it all =3

I wouldn\'t mind seeing rats and spiders and things like that in the underground caves and wolves or whatever out side the town.

Hm so we should think of some medieval animals which could serve as newbie-food?
- killer-doves (standard first victim)
- insane donkeys (funny amok-event)
- snakes (below the surface)
- foxes (they attacked my pet!)
- chicken (can\'t counter-attack)
thanks for reading
