if no one can help or not atm then maybe someone can help me gather some info on some old external modems i gathered recently, google is clueless btw
they are, nokia base band modem model ds (or d8 hard to read the label) 3610.1 and nokia sab modem model ds 2857 as said google is rather clueless on these models and ontop of that it's a litle hard to find info on nokia stuff anyway.

All I remember from the days a bit prior to those models is that auto-answer used to be set on many modems through dip switch configuration on the hardware.

um not internal cards, external modems so they don't have dip switches atleast not on the outside

Auto-answer would have been a default off on many devices. You would change it by using a terminal program to send AT codes to the hardware, if there were no dip switch settings to do it.

doesn't seem like the AT command for auto-answer is working  ATS0=1 as there is no dialing inbetween these modems i doubt it ever will work.
the command however does turn on an AA light on the modem so that far it does work but i still had to type ATA on the target pc.
