Everyone owning a rivnak or a drifter can compete except of GMs because they can teleport.

Not a good timing for different TZs imo. I'd suggest doing it on Sunday or something.

I admit I use my mount extensively to replicate the climbing a klyros could do with wings. (Im really quite good at it at this point)

I won't call it very OOC, since there are no normal means to climb to wall watch towers for example, while really there should be a way (or guards are expected to fly there?). Or you can say it's simply RPing a climbing skill which isn't implemented yet at all.

Catlemur, the devs disabled that. I'm pretty sure it was because people were getting into what's called the Nexus causing some form of issue.

Catiemur when a GM sees someone using their mount to do OOC things, like climbing buildings, then we tell them to stop it. if the person stops then there is no more issues. If the person doesn't stop or we catch then doing it again then we start the process of giving a warning, then a kick and then a ban. So far we haven't had to go past the warning stage with anyone but there is one player who we have almost kicked for repeatedly climbing the statue in the plaza.

I'm just letting people know what to expect if a GM is on and sees this event in progress, people are going to be told to stop being OOC. If they stop then it goes no farther than that. If you want to be OOC then take it to the EZ server but of course not many people have mounts over there.

I didn't see a reply about the reasoning. Climbing is not OOC, and the fact that it's not implemented in regular fashion doesn't make it OOC. However if the player intends to mean that the rivnak does the climbing - that might be OOC. Anyhow, I don't consider this an issue. And if GMs/devs really see a problem with it - at least find a way to provide some ropes and ladders as an IG non OOC options! That's one of the fun parts of the game, and forbidding it without a real valid reason is not good.

Can you at least allow us to do the event if we RP it?Nearly noone including myself has a mount on EZ.

Climbing use to be implemented but it was turned off. As LigH pointed out there were issues because of some of the places people were climbing to. IC reasons for not allowing people to use their mounts to climb up on to various places would be people would not let a bunch of strangers climb around on their houses in Hydlaa. Remember all the buildings are owned by people, either NPCs or other people. I know for sure in RL I'm not about to let a bunch of strangers climb around on my house without running them off myself or calling the cops. I don't know of any place that let's people climb around on the city statues and I don't think the Hydlaa vigesimi wants peopel climbing around on the statue in the plaza. Likewise buildings like the Laanx temple. Not sure Sharven and the worshipers of Laanx want people then don't know climbing around on the outside of their temple.

I'd say if you want to go out into the wilds then climb around to your hearts content, but in the city you shouldn't expect to be able to climb around on other people's property. And I'm not sure the Octarchy wants regular citizens running around up on the city walls. The walls are part of the defense of the city, a place for guards not really a place for the common citizen.

An interesting discussion I observed with amusement...
I cannot resist anymore to make an almost serious comment.

Technically, the climbing (or let's call it happy hopping ) is quite interesting on the bamboo like trees in Ojaveda. It takes a bit of human skill to reach the tree tops in a short time.

To keep the nonsense factor a bit lower, you could restrict your event to drifters and RP that the contest is not about riding, but dressage ... without the weight of a rider, a drifter looks well capable to make some impressive leaps. Okay, that would be a contradiction to the models shown, and some people dislike when RP differs from what the engine shows us. I don't know how restrictive the policies are, but if you make a very kind request, some GM might consider to morph the contestants characters into groffles. At least, that would look excellent to RP familiar dressage, wouldn't it?
