Dungeons and Dragons… IN GAME!!
« on: June 12, 2011, 02:52:29 am »
So I had this crazy idea going through my head. I didn't know whether to put it on IC events or where, but we could make our chars entertain themselves by playing D&D in game. With the dices, drawn dungeons, backstory, dungeon master, mobs… EVERYTHING!! So what do you say, eh, guys, eh? Isn't it an awesome idea? Eh?

PS: I'm not drunk. Well, maybe a little. But I'm not really drunk.

its a roleplaying game... inside a roleplaying game...

INCEPTION

Anyways, would take a whoooole lot of work, not to mention the concept of a monster in PS would be even more far fetched then our concept of a monster, because they HAVE creepy crawlers errywhere.

There's been a book left in Kada's that was a parody of D&D...was that you? And yeah, that'd be funny.

As for further fetched monsters than there already are in PS? Why not...oh, I dunno, dragons. xD

It would seem more fun, to me, to play and create a PS Scenario of something that takes place on one of the other levels not yet created in PS. This was discussed a bit on another thread some time ago.

I love the idea! I'm not sure if it fits with the settings though, unless the characters involved are youth from noble backgrounds or well-to-do families. I think people play games (especially roleplaying games) in part because they provide experiences that stimulate their minds relative to their daily routines. If you're working all day to train yourself in the event of the next Ulbernaut invasion, or working all day harvesting plants in the dangerous terrain outside the city walls, will you find it relaxing to play a game full of danger and battle? If danger and violence are a part of their daily routine, I think characters will find other forms of entertainment. However if the character's daily toil takes place in a library, perhaps they'll be very open to a D&D type game. Since the Octarch has decreed that everyone must be trained for battle from a young age though, I don't think there will be many characters for which a D&D style game can be considered a complete escape. Instead, you'll have to frame the game as another way to train, and as a way to prepare the mind for future situations or problems the characters may encounter.

what? i do combat training irl every day. i was nearly killed in a drive-by shooting a couple nights ago. yesterday, i wrestled a bear, and won by shoving its own laser down its throat.

i play this game when situations akin to those mentioned are not befalling me at the moment.
