Too much load on hdd and in terminal...lag
« on: May 29, 2003, 11:12:53 pm »
After I got the game to work I came into and there I got the next Problem: The game is laggy whyever.

The Terminal is producing line to line more, my harddisk is on an very high load and the network-connection isnt used over 1%.

Ive put the game to the lowest, able, configuration (640x480x8) and to a high one (1024x768x32), both are the same.

My Graphic Card configuration is ok (RTCW and other Shooters have no Probs) and PS uses OpenGL (Software is much more lag).

Anyone got this, too before or knows how to solve it?

I\'m currently having a very similar issue with two different systems, trying to figure out how to stop the real slow framerate - I\'m stuck at between 5 to 7 FPS (my estimation).

First system:
Athlon XP 1600, 512MB RAM, GeForce FX, SBLive! 5.1 Platinum, WinXP

Second system:
K6-2 450MHz, 256MB RAM, GeForce2, SBLive! Value, WinXP

Both systems have the same framerate issue, and neither one is significantly affecting my network connection.

Edit: nm, my comp just cant handle all the polys and textures, if i go to the edge of the village i get non at all, it is vid lag, any suggestions on how to turn down the quality of the game (part from the obvious i mean)

edit edit: nm just read the drawdistance thread. its just the bloody rain n that great big orange thing that do it

How about adjusting virtual memory a bit?

In Windows, it might help to create a separate partition (1024 MB seems enough for anything) and set windows to swap there.
