Also I think I may have fixed the underlying bug to this which makes your account invalid if you get this error.  Please let me know if it is still happening.

Also, you need to make sure your character points allocated are exactly zero when you create your character.

Hello, I downloaded this game this morning. I created my character and clicked connect. It loaded the world and everything was fine. Then i exited out to find out the controls. When tried to connect back into the world it said \"Server is down or unreachable visit the website or forums for information\" Please tell me what to do.....

I believe the server is down...I\'ve been trying for hours, and getting the same error message your getting.
Cant find any info on this situation here on the forum though

Uhm.. I created a char \"Rainclaw\"... I also input the IP...
I made another character \"Rainrock\"... But no further results

The problem is that it says that there is a problem in my database... And I sould contact a PS admin or something.. please help? O_o

And I cannot delete the chars by myself... It cannot find that page... U_U

First... it starts out with my player name is taken.. but it says it for every name, even awertwsdfg etc. Next if i try again it says server inreacheable or name is invalid... then finnaly if it gets past those msg\'s i get linkdead... i turned off my firewall and tried the above thought solution of changeing compatibility to win 98/me but didn\'t work.

I just downloaded and ran PlaneShift for the first time yesterday. I used custom character creation (a few times), I allocated all points, and yes, I am behind a firewall that is most likely blocking UDP on the port PlaneShift wants, or at least certainly not forwarding it to me. I received linkdead after creation and the database error when trying to connect, so it appears this is still happening.

To connect with the client program, you should use :

• Server: 203.81.47.74
  

instead of planeshift.fragnetics.com. It could be why you went linkdead (several people had this problem recently). This is only a temporary situation.

If you get a database error in your account check this. And if you have difficulties getting to the account deletion page, try this.

Would you please delete Shinsha, Shinjin, Shinkan, Willow... I would like to try and create my origional Shinsha character again.  I can not access her and that is my prefered forum & gaming name.

No. I\'ve been using that IP from the beginning.

If you get a database error in your account check this.

This thread is about the cause of that.

Curiously, after running the updater yesterday and using quick creation, I was able to create and connect with a character perfectly well. I haven\'t tested custom creation again yet, however.

The first time i created a character it said Linkdead and it just quit on me... so i dont know if i got the character created or not.. no clue.
But when i restart it and i click on connect and i put in all my information for my charatcer, it says there is an error in my database on my account please contact an admin and stuff. I have no clue what to do. please help

Here\'s a question that came up from the IRC channel recently:

This guy (smoberly) get this error when connecting::

CheckLinkDead: Sending heartbeat message 4 to server....

Also he is running it in Linux and has tried clearing Port 13331 on his firewall.

Any suggestions?

Important: If you get a database error in account.

Don\'t worry, delete your character account with the help of this link, create it again and everything should be fine.
