I downloaded this over a month ago. I\'ve never got it to work correctly. I\'ve read nearly everything here if not everything, and yet nothing\'s helped. My processing speed is low, but my RAM makes up the difference. I can run PlaneShift fine. It the linkdead problem I\'m having.

Relevant Specs:
OS: Microsoft Windows 98 (all updates critical and not)
Processor: GenuineIntel PII Processor with MMX
RAM: 758MB
Modem: 112kbps on a dial-up connection (dynamic IP)

Things I\'ve tried:
Disabling firewall
Changing address to IP (doesn\'t even recognize it)
Pinging IP (again, no recognition)
Tracing the IP to see if it actually exists... It does.
OpenGL mode, even though it looks odd on my Voodoo 3
Booting without TSRs

Basically, I need help. If nobody can offer me that I\'ll wait until the next version and try again. I\'m not uexperienced with computers, and I tried both IPs. It acted like they weren\'t real IPs. Very annoying.

rekkaden is confoozled.... when it says using to try using that ip addy in place of the name, what name does this mean? -_- rekkaden is serioiusly lost today...

Every computer connected to the internet has it\'s own Internet Protocal (IP) address. To make this short and sweet, just type the number address in place of the website address. I hope that helps.

Maghnus: Looks like you\'ve tried most of what I would suggest, but there\'s 1 more thing. Have you ran the Updater? Try that, but I wouldn\'t hold your breath.

If that doesn\'t work, then I\'m afraid I can\'t think of any other reason why you can\'t log in. :(

i finally got the stupid thing to install correctly, only took 6 download tries lol. now that i\'m past the corrupt file issue now i get the link dead issue.  I changed the IP and now it just sits there trying to connect to the server then comes back with server is down or unreachable >_<

Hey.
Just installed the game.
I don\'t know if the cause of the deadlink is known, but i think I figured out WHY people get it.
If the account name you chose is already taken and then you press \"back\" to change it to something valid, you\'ll get the deadlink message.
As I said, I\'m a newbie to this game and i haven\'t read all the posts about the deadlink issue. Can anyone conform it?
