Have you ran the Updater? Try that, but I wouldn\'t hold your breath.

hello, can\'t get the game working due to same problems posted in this thread... anyway... i\'ll keep trying. In the mean time could you remove the following char\'s: khmer ; khmersaie ; saie ; Asl ; asl
 Don\'t know if it makes two different char\'s only because there is a capital \"A\" in other and other is lower case \"a\"

ok first of all il be absolutley honest with you people, when i had a look through the site i completely thought that this was the best free to play downloadable multiplayer rpg with the best graphics that a downloadable MMORPG could have. maybe thats just me but thats what i think. i was overwhelmed with excitement when i read that this was only a demo too. i too was getting the linkdead message, changed the server name to the ip, fixed the linkdead but now i get the server unreachable message. all im guessing is that curently because this game is in demo, the glitches are going to be fixed (im hoping), so i think il patiently wait for the the full version......except i just sort of want to know how long i will have to wait, not like a full date, just like tell us, a year, two years? more? cheers guys, this game could have a great future if the bugs are fixed, keep up the good work

Quilll, that is really the million dollar question.  Nobody really knows when we will be \'finished\',  probably never since it constantly grows.  I think the next release will be a nice milestone and we are pushing hard to release it by the end of the year.  

I think we are maybe one more version ( after Crystal Blue ) to becoming more \'mainstream\' where you can do most of the things you can do in existing games.  After that the sky is the limit as to what we can do.

It all really depends on people\'s motivation, time, lives.  There are times when I do more and times when I do less. Depends on how I feel, what sort of day at work I had, etc.  But the main thing to keep in mind, is that we are totally dedicated to PlaneShift.  We also don\'t hold any illusions that we are going to knock out Everquest any time soon.  ( that comes a bit later )

I\'m a new member and gettin the linkdead problem...
i am on a network (connecting to broadband though other pc) and i running Xp Pro.

Xp Pro has a inbuilt firewall which i dont kno how to disable and i was wondering if anyone knew how to disable it..
I\'ve also been egtting the database error :/
I really need help cause its startin to get annoying,
no-matter what anyone on here says it wont help me out :/

Someone said in the thread that if the character name already existed then it would lead to a link dead error.

I confirm that.

I\'m not behind a firewall and access the server with its IP.

whatever I could try has led to a link dead error, until I read this post.
All the names I choosed before was used, I tryed something like hfdjshfks, and it worked.

Now there is another problem, my client crashed just after I succeed in passing the character registration :

i got passed the linkdead prob on my xp, but now another prob accurs..... i got the planetshift.exe prob for xp....

what happens is the game starts to load, and when it finishes the music cut off and the planetshift.exe error appear and then the client dissapear... can someone help...my aol is badfox2k3

i think i know why its not working for people with xp, when u go to properties, then compatability and click win 98 and nt... it needs win 98 or nt to run.... unless someone got it with xp and got it to run

I have a problem as well as many of the other ppl here. My problem, however is with my head, not my computer. I honestly, do not even know what a port is and what a router is. All i know is that I have a home network and i am not the server of that network. My brother Is connected directly to the internet (cable) and then another ether net cable goes out of HIS comp and into a hub and then into my comp. Thus, i am not connected to the internet unless my brothers comp is not on.
     That is not the problem though, since his comp is always on . The problem is that... When i create a char and write the IP in instead of that server name, i get the error saying that \"The server is not running or is not reachable blah blah blah....\"
    So... my question is... Am i stupid and should just try to log on another day cause the server is down? Or is the server up and running and i need to change something on my comp?
    And also, i would like the whole port thing explained to me, and can it help me in my small idiotic network?

i just downloaded planeshift.... only took me about 5 days (yay 56k...)
i\'m getting linkdead messages.... i tried putting in the ip instead of the text address.... and someone posted earlier in this topic that you can\'t change the compatibility unless you\'re on XP.... so does this basically mean there\'s nothing left for me to try? i\'m not behind a firewall.. and i usually don\'t have trouble connecting to game servers.... someone help!

i created a character about 2 weeks ago and it worked fine, after having a problem (see \"was going fine, now it is not\" in the forum) i just tried creating a character and it said i have linkdead,

the point of this is, if i only just got linkdead could it affect my old chars? if the answer is yes then that could answer a lot of things.
