game crashes when trying to login
« on: August 02, 2011, 11:53:44 am »
Hi!

I'm using windows 7. I downloaded the game, did all the updates. I installed all the recent drivers for my graphic card. When I start the launcher, everything works fine, but when I come into the login page, as soon I click on "Login", the game crashes:

(It says: "psclient.exe stopped working. Because of a problem, the program stopped working properly. Windows will now close the program and tell if there is any solution.") (It tells nothing ahah.)

I even tried to repair the game, but it says everything is fine. So I did the thing in the topic "PS Launch not playing ball" adding --command. On the launcher, it only says that the updates are already complete. I tried it on the client file, and here what it says:

Can somebody help me? I played this game a lot in the past, and now it's kind of frustating....

Some infos on the hardware you use would be fine. PS is known to work poorly with intel gfx for example.

And sorry, for a better understanding what is going on the whole logs PS writes to the console would be needed. As far as I know it's a bit hard to copy text from the console in window but if I remember right it is somehow possible from the menu of the console. Also I'm not sure if the console-output is the same as <PS-install-dir>\errorlog.txt. If it is the same uploading the errorlog.txt to some pastebin service might be simpler.

Could you explain this a little bit more? I'm not so familiar with what you're saying.

As far as I know the windows client creates a errorlog.txt file each time it is started. I think you can find this in the directory PS is installed in. Maybe it already contains the same output PS writes to the console after you started it with --command...then pasting the content of that file might give a better clue why the game crashes for you.

Ugh...sorry...I promise I will never ask again for a errorlog.txt.  *rant-mode on* What is it good for if it doesn't include the errors? *rant-mode off*. Sorry... I really have no clue how to help you there. Maybe a dev can have a look at this thread.

Looking at the error log, it looks like a similar thing to this thread?
