I know that this is sort of off the subject, but it is very much related to Planeshift. I am trying to get my Redhat 6.2 ( I know that it is old) box back up and running. I have successfully installed the OS in server mode. Now I cannot seem to get the interface to the Linksys NIC to load correctly.
The reason that I am trying to do this follows. I see that there are a lot of people out there running XP that are having a world of trouble getting their connection to work. It takes forever to load, when they get in the performance is choppy, etc. So what I am trying to do is set up a server of my own, in-house so that I can have free reign as far as the testing that I do. I want to take a look at how the DLLs are being loaded, how the page files are being used, etc....to help the people with the average machines (900s +) be able to actually enjoy the game. I have a few people here in the states that are willing to help me with this issue. We just cannot get to the server sometimes because of the high ping times over our route.
Ok. After all that talk...here is the problem. I have a linksys100 that works perfectly in this server when it has windows loaded. When redhat is on here I cannot get the eth0 interface to come up. When I go into netconf to set it up everything seems fine. I set it to DHCP to work with my cable router. I set the interface name and the tulip module as it should be. Sometimes I place the IRQ of 9 in there. When I apply the changes I get no errors with the tulip module. When i try most other modules I get errors that are so long and crazy that I cannot remember them. When i bring up netstat -i it only shows the lo interface. When I reboot and it tries to bring up eth0 it will say that it is trying but the message is always \"Delaying eth0 intitialization\" or something about the resource already being loaded or in use. There are no other nics in there.
When I take is out and reboot it wants to remove the configuration. When I reboot and put it back in Kudzu wants to come up and configure it. But the end result is that it never will load up all the way or show up in my interface listings.
Nothing is working. DHCP nor maual settings seems to get anything done. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
