Stairs, ladders and jumping.
« on: May 30, 2003, 08:58:49 pm »
Hello!

A couple of things I would like to see are:

-A fluid movement up stairs, (treat them as ramps, but look like stairs).

-Jumping to be more than just a small hop that has no physics to it. (This is hard to do, I do not intend to offend anyone.  So far the game is great!)

-When going up ladders, you are required to look up, (ala Halflife and mods).  Makes it more realistic and isnt so disorienting.

Thanks!

The hop jump thing is more of a movement to avoid getting stuck then much else. If it was made more inline with physics?then like many an argument about running speed, you will have people who can get to the river and others who can?t?and since we cant pick up a board and make a small bridge?.our character just can?t get there. Movement is one of the areas where realism is really sacrificed in these games. In the name of convenience.

I think he\'s talking about the fact that while you climb up the stairs each step makes both the camera and model kinda \'pop\' up to the next one, with no inbetween :P

Gem has what I was saying right.  The jerky movement on the stairs and the not having to look up while doing it.
