Launcher segmentation fault
« on: August 15, 2011, 04:31:03 pm »
Hello,

The Planeshift launcher keep doing seg faults. I can run it from time to time with root's rights but never with normal rights. I can run it from time to time withthe command line but never with the icon.
OS: Ubuntu 11.04 / PS root installation
Only "seg fault" is logged on system's logs.
here are the messages when I run PS and and it fails:
Code: [Select]
root@Revaweb:~# planeshift

Erreur de segmentation

The problem seems to come from active mirrors

I think many people have this problem because only 30 characters are connected on the Zeroping's server.

Is there something good to do to eliminate the problem?

Not exactly a "new and unknown bug", if it belongs to the fact that the updater requires a little effort (at least 2-3 runs, maybe even up to creating a file updateservers.cfg) to start an update. And the problems finishing the update (pslaunch locking up, and the need to apply executable bits again) is just another already - several times - documented bug.

Nevertheless ... welcome. :)

Curious why it would suddenly start happening on linux64 today when it was fine last night.  ???
Two of my PCs and one of Cryptus started messing around today.  using the --repair flag a few times has got one of mine working again... trying it on the other now

Update--- that ones working again now  \\o//

That doesn't work for me. The program can't access the mirror server to repair. I have only error messages.  :sweatdrop:

Mine did the same, no software changes to the system at all... almost entirely unprompted

the updater must have write access to it's own folders
