Status of Our Old Pets

Before mounts were implemented, I had a pet Groffel.  Since the changes were made to implement mounts, I can no longer summon him, though I can now summon a mount.

What is the status of these old pets?  Are they gone forever?

You should still be able to summon it, i can summon mine since ive got a mount. try /pet summon /pet 1, summon and /pet 2, summon

If that does not work try talking to good old Levrus again.

I find my groffel and rivnak randomly switch between 0 and 1. Remember the comma!

Instead of using numbers, you can also use the full name of your pet.

Wierd mine have never changed between them, but i do have it shortcutted and im not sure if i have the names or numbers in the comands.

If you returned after the big quest reset, it is possible that you have to redo the pet quest. But you should get the same pet species again.

The two known bugs I deal with with pets.. My groffle and drifter switch places as 1 and 0
Also if I typed /pet Grizle [my groffle] summon it would somtimes summon my drifter.

A solution would be to enforce an ordering of the pets when requested. An SQL query may return any order unless you include "ORDER BY ...".

I did that quest again, as it is required to get a mount, but I don't think I tried to summon a pet before getting the mount.  Now the mount is the only one i can summon.  I've done all the numbers etc. as suggested here.  I've just got one, the Rivnak.  I'll visit Levrus, but I doubt he'll give me that quest yet again.  I've already got two rings of summon familiar.

My Rivnak is pet 1, and I can always summon and dismiss him with "/pet 1,"

"/pet 0, summon" has always gotten me a message about the ring being depleted.  How do I "undeplete" it?  Judging by the fact that it seems to acknowledge that pet 0 is there (/pet 0 dismiss tells me he's already in the netherworld), and that I "don't have a pet called 2", I guess I do have another pet, I just can't ever call it.

Are you wearing the new ring or the ring from back in 4.03, all rings from 4.03 dont work, unless stacked with a new ring.

You should have only one active ring anyway, as Levrus adds another gem to the same ring.

So in fact, the "Ring of Summon Familiar" will look rather like ring02 (in gold), instead of ring01, when you got both mounts and therefore both additional crystals ... I just never dared to change that.

I didn't.  I miss my groffel.

I put on both rings at the same time and was able to summon pet 0.  Except it´s a yulbar.  I miss my groffel!  Now I can summon both pets with either ring on by itself.  They are both identical and look like ring01 in Ligh´s graphic.

The only pets are either a groffel OR a yulbar, not both (mounts are in addition to that).  Putting on both rings should not make a difference.

I know, and that´s the problem.  I had a groffel pre-wipe. with an RP story.   Now I have a yulbar, which I don´t find nearly as appealing.  I miss my groffel and was hoping that once I worked around whatever the issue was I´d get my groffel back.  It´s disappointing to realize that he is gone forever.
