Sourceforge Problem
« Reply #60 on: February 23, 2005, 11:55:02 pm »
For some strange reason, sourceforge.net won\'t let me access the web address in the first post, even when I\'m logged into the website.

Just wondering if there was a certain thing I needed to do first that I\'m not doing, as nothing I\'m doing seems to be working.

Request:  I would like to see a stash, or locker of some type.

Reason: I know that there will be a time when my inventory will be full and i will want to dump it somwhere so i dont have to lug everything around.

How it can be possable:  There could be a selectable box in the plaza (similer to the stash in Diablo 2) that can hold x amount of weight in items.  there could be a charge to open a locker account (the charge could very with requested size of locker) that and it would be password protected.  the locker could have its avalable storage space increased for a fee so that people wont be buying lots of lockers.  when somone wants to store something they can /tell the box (by its official name or something like that) their locker password and tey would be granted access to the contence.  each user would see only their contence so their wont be a need for 1000 different lockers.  the box could be lockpicked proofed etc. and it could be accesed at certain places like each town/city.  so that there won\'t be the need to run for half an hour because an item was forgotten.

Other possabilitys and uses:  the box would be most usefull for miners because they could drop of ther weapons, armor, etc so they have more room to carry ore. scence the box would be opened by password it could be used by large groops like guilds maybe.  I beleave that the most potent use of the box would be for people who have multiple charicters (chars), like myself, so that they can trade between there different chars without haveing to go through other users.  i have experince with this and find it very iritating when your freind logs off or is immpossable to find when they have something that is yours that you need right away.

Conclution:  i hope that other members and the wonderful creators of this great game read this and concider the possablility of a storage locker or box for PlaneShift.

saw424 I know what you mean by your idea and I have played games that do that (http://www.conqueronline.com) but having your own customised house to store things in would be my favorite solution.

I also think houses should be expensive and very customisable.

A kinda public storage facility would be nice though. Maybe a large warehouse where you deposit through an npc for a small fee.

Remove the installers integrity check.

Reason: BitTorrent hash checks the file on both ends, then the installer takes a computer dependent amount of time to re-check the file for no reason.

less fall damage!
« Reply #69 on: April 12, 2005, 11:46:27 pm »
I decided to follow the \"guidelines\" and went wandering without a map.  I WALK not run down a gentle slope - boom!  Dead from fall damage.

Fine, maybe it was steaper than I thought.   I go to the end of the world!  I climb a nice gentle slope to get a good view.  I walk back the way I came and BOOM!  I fell down and died.  Losing over 50hp from sliding (not even falling this time) down a hill that was shorter than my character??

I wish for less fall damage!  How about 10hp for every 2 game meters(or 6ft) or something similar?

comments about being a newbie aside, some sort of equipment or direction would be nice as opposed to being dumped in the middle of a plaza that could be crowded or empty but can be intimidating either way.

balance between the melee and magic skills (I\'ve posted at lingth elsewhere already, so I\'ll save it here).

it\'d also be interesting if charisma effected sale/purchase price (high charisma lowers buy price/raises sell price vs low charisma giving worse deals for you).  everyone needs to punch things or have hit points, who needs Int, Wis, or Cha?

some kind of storage locker would be nice, housing would be better- but I think that should be something to be worked for while a \"bus locker\" or \"safe deposit box\" should be accessable to everyone.

I definitely like the idea of supply and demand based pricing.  as a merchant gets flooded with items the price they\'re willing to pay (and that they charge for them) slides down.  the things they specialize in they\'re willing to pay more for and charge less for than he random items that someone has in their inventory.

The ability to \"make\" (hire) NPCs for player created shops/facilities (shopkeeps, guards, etc) would also be cool way down the road.

I wanna pony...

I really like some of these building ideas, another thing, would be to have an open construction district, where pretty much anything can be built, (therefore it wouldn\'t take away from the elegance of the city to have a bunch of shacks strewn all over the place, they would all be tucked away out of sight) and require approval for building anywhere else.

Edit: I took out most of the post, since the other parts really didn\'t belong here.

This thread starts off with a dead link from 2003... then rambles on about all sorts of whatnot... um... why is this unlocked... and why in the world is this a sticky?...  ?(

If any mods can hear me... please un-sticky it, lock it, and throw away the key...
Please, end this poor thread\'s suffering, and let it rest in peace...
 ;(

What about better: Distinguish between fall damage and slide damage, the latter being, say, 20% of the former, while leaving fall damage realistic, as-is.

No fixed spawn points. Spawn camping is one of worse habits common to MMORPGs. Make spawn position more or less random (maybe a multitude of spawn points with really long respawn time?) so people actually can hunt or be surprised by monsters, and not just stand in one place, waiting for the monster to respawn over and over, and shoo  away others, who try to get a kill. Why: Spawn-camping is boring, annoying, unrealistic and, well, a mild kind of cheat -
This would solve that.
