How many similar threads did you read before posting, to search for available solutions?

For me, PS 0.5.7.1 runs on both 32 and 64 bit versions of Ubuntu 11.04 (in Classic mode, not Unity, to avoid enforced fullscreen scaling).

The most common problem for PS not working under Linux is reported as not having OpenAL installed. The message "Failed to locate Sound renderer!" might be related. Still, the usual error log messages don't show any serious reason why it didn't run. So please, try to start ./pslaunch from a console and look for more information there.

the older version required openal to be installed it's fixed in the newer one which could be obtained by doing a pslaunch --console --repair

My problem is that my console isnt launching so i cant repair, ok sry should have said that before, i cant run the launcher it crashes, i see a black window for like half a second and then it disappears

you shouldn't see a black window if you launch it with those arguments as it should just run in a terminal

Done, had to install openAL from terminal but now game freezes when i select any option when accepting a quest (currently on a Hammer for Hammel), but i think thats another problem, if you can help would be great or ill just make another post.

if you don't  update the client to last version it won't work well

I just updated, but there are several files that failed to patch, at the end it says "There are no active mirrors! Please check the forums.... Failed to download updater info from a mirror!... Update finished!"
