Lots of crashes- can anyone please help this little techless elf?

Hi all you smarter than me techie players. So, surprise, I keep crashing.  Sometimes as soon as I try to move after first loading in.  Sometimes after a minute or two.     Sometimes for no apparent reason,    like now, I was in the middle of riding my rivnak on shortcut R for auto run, and crash again! Three times tonight...        Can anyone suggest a fix for a non-techie please? Thanks!

Looks like your video driver, try turning everything under graphics to their lowest levels.
Then again, how old is your computer what kind of ati card/gpu does it have?

I can confirm lots of sudden crashes with rather powerful hardware (AMD Phenom-II X4, 4 GB RAM, GeForce 9600 GT) on Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit. Waesed Waesech had similar crashes with Ubuntu 11 32-bit.

It happened specifically close to the court house (near Taulim Wilaal). I crashed the first time approaching the house during the DEV Q&A. And when I left it and tried to meet Xarthen, followed by Waesed Waesech, I kept crashing in seconds after loading the world, until I managed to run towards the East Passage in the few seconds I could move till the next crash.

Because the East Passage is a different sector, and also far enough away from the Dholats not to have music players in hearing range, I expected to be safer there; and that was true (although I can't be sure about the specific reasons).

I had htree crashes this weekend within about 40 minutes, when I used a separate X server for PS (Ubuntu 10.4). After changing to the original one, things were ok again.  No more crashes. Strange stuff ...

I saw no correlations with where I was at that time.

I'll change to separate X server again to test (if noone tells me this is a common problem)...

Some crashes Sunday for me too, with my windows client. At first I though could be the musical instrument my char was using, because I tried with an alt and all it was fine. Since I was in East Hydlaa at the time and my char crashes half the times I move from Hydlaa Plaza to Hydlaa East I simply gave up.
Yesterday though I had no problem.

Thanks  ya'll. Sorry to hear others are having trouble with crashes too.  LigH I am on the Oja road, headed for East hydlaa but haven't been able to get more than a few minutes closer in the past 3 tries. 

I have turned the graphics down but sigh** it looks so bad.  Bilbous, I have a pretty new laptop with updated drivers and high graphics card that I got especially to play ps... before the last upgrade I could run at medium or even high graphics without crashing, and ps looked terrific! Now, turning everything down and turning the sound off entirely, sigh*** such a step backwards....  I haven't been able to hear any of the musical instruments.

Just tried to log in- What does zeroping "Locked" mean? Never saw that before...
will keep trying stuff... but more ideas are welcome!

I was wondering what was going on there.  Thought maybe someone was casting icy blast or something.  I crashed on a regular basis in East Hydlaa.

Sounds like that just means you caught them during an update.  Whenever the server needs to be rebooted it's usually set to 5 minutes where you see that countdown "server will shut down in 1 minute" or whatever.  During that time the server is locked so no one can log in.

BTW, turned all the graphics down to lowest and made it ingame last night.. everyone was faceless!! That was odd....
