Dear Esther

Some of you Shifters might be interested in a new release called Dear Esther (a ''game'' based on HL2 mod by the same name). Worth checking out.

Just as a warning: It's not a problem solving game. Don't expect anything from it and you'll get alot.

it's a slowly paced (graphically stunning) piece of modern poetry. Even though a bit expensive...

Are the screenshots shown in the Steam website actual screenies from the game? Because it looks sweet as balls.

I think Esther is the name of the high tech city in FF8, thats just the first thing that popped into my head, when I saw this.

yes. the game (even though I'd call it an art installation personally) is comprised of the scenery (with some pieces changing between playthroughs), a poetry read during the travel (could change), don't expect any action or interaction. For sure the caverns are the most graphically stunning places.

I enjoyed it a lot. Mostly because it's not trying to be a videogame.

Oh and yeah, the graphics are that amazing, and more.

Anyone tried it on wine?
Doesn't look too promising at the wine hp, but maybe just for a lack of testing...
Glad to meet you :)

it uses source so I'd expect a good compatibility on that front.
