GLX Error
« on: June 04, 2003, 05:44:52 am »
I am getting a strange error that I think is a problem with Planeshift and not Crystal Space.  I can run all of the CS demo programs fine with OpenGL.  They run extremely well and I have had no problems as of yet.  When I try to run Planeshift either the original or Molecule Blue it says Cannot use preffered GLX visual.  Then it reverts to software mode and the game is useless.  It will NOT run at all in software.  I am very confused by this so if anyone has suggestions they would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Mikamikem

BTW:

I forgot to add that I am using an NVIDIA GeForce 4 MX 440 and running Red Hat Linux 9.

That could be helpful info (LOL).

here\'s what worked for me (Gentoo, everything installed from source!):
i run PS using this command

CRYSTAL=/opt/crystal CEL=/opt/crystal /usr/bin/planeshift

...change CRYSTAL and CEL to your paths to crystalspace and CEL

...is that fails try asking the same question on the irc channel

...i also know a guy that made it work in redhat using the sources, but he\'s on holiday ATM :(
