    Ring of Daggers

Welcome, observers and brawlers, to the Ring of Daggers, as brought to you by the Blood Tria Syndicate. This event series occurs twice a month in the Arena. You may hear of it through rumor-mongering in Hydlaa. A ring of daggers will be setup where brawlers opt to fight. Up to four individuals can enter the Ring. Gambling is a promoted feature. Alcoholic drinks will be sold at low cost. Security is provided, and rules are explicitly stated. This is a roleplay focused event, and as such, matches are roleplayed. PvP matches will be a small minority. We also welcome grudge matches, for people to settle disputes through violence.

      Matches
      • Aspiring brawlers must inform the Ringmaster. They can opt to enter a pool from which the Ringmaster will pick matches, or can meet among themselves and choose. Terms of the fight must be stated beforehand.
      • Roleplay brawlers operate on a turn order. Failing to follow it results in penalties.
      • Godmodding is watched attentively. If you are known to have this problem, do not brawl. Watch and learn.
      • There are 1v1 and group matches. Then there are three sub-types: fist, weapon and death matches. All match types must be agreed to by all brawlers beforehand.
      • No magic in any form whatsoever. This includes but is not limited to buffs, curses and enchantments. People are allowed to heal brawlers only after matches.
      • Group fights are allowed, but are limited to four individuals total.
      • Players have two minutes to post under turn order. If a player goes over the limit they are penalized OOCly. If the fight goes on too long, the Ringmaster will simply end it and the rest of the matches will continue.
      • Moreover, death matches cannot end without one side dying. If no death occurs, then the Ringmaster will increase danger for both sides until death does occur.
      • A match victory requires submission or death, depending on the match type.

      Fist Match
      • 1v1
      • No armor.
      • Solely hand-to-hand combat.
      • Submission on one side required.

      Weapon Match
      • 1v1
      • Armor types up to chain mail allowed.
      • Any type of weapon is allowed.
      • Submission on one side is required.

      Death Match
      • 1v1
      • Brawlers fight until the opponent dies.
      • Dakkru is patron to Death Matches, and as such, worship will be made to Her before and after.
      • Any combination of armor, weapons or hand-to-hand combat is allowed.
      • One side will die, even if the teams can't end it.

      Group Match
      • This includes group fist, group weapon and group death matches.
      • This requires a minimum of three individuals with a maximum of four.
      • There must be definite teams or none at all.
      • One team or one individual must be left standing in the Ring for a winner to be decided.

      Gambling
      • Because this is a roleplay focused event, and because the economy is bonkers, all bets are roleplayed. No physical tria will be given or handed out. We operate on an economy relative to tavern food and drink prices.
      • Bet range: 110, 210, 310, etc., consecutively up to 1,100 at minimum on each match. Raising the limit depends on the power of the brawlers and the wealth of gamblers. This is under Ringmaster judgment and discretion.
      • Unless the match is lopsided in terms of power, the money line is -1.10. Thus, you must bet 1.10 tria per 1 tria of potential winnings. Therefore if you win, you would acquire 2.10 tria. Translated into actual possible bets, this means you would receive 210 tria from a winning 110 tria bet.
      • As a roleplay focused event, this is NOT about players amassing wealth. It is about your character's desire, whatever they may be. Gambling, in this event series, is constrained under this IC economy status. We find this a balanced and enjoyable approach, and we hope you will too.
      • The Bookie will take bets.
      • Characters can only bet before a fight starts. Tria must be given to the Bookie at that time.
      • Tria is handed out to winning brawlers and gamblers after the match is done.
      • Uncollected winnings go to the Syndicate.
      • If there is no clear victor in a match, then bets will be returned.

      Rules

      • No OOCly predetermined matches.
      • Players must accept Character Warnings, as written below.
      • Brawlers who godmod will be given warnings. Under the Ringmaster's judgement they may be ejected ICly and OOCly if irredeemable.
      • Gambling rules are not negotiable. No physical tria will be gambled. However, the amount available to gamble may be raised under the Ringmaster's judgment as per notoriety and power of brawlers present.

      Character Warnings
      • If an observer intervenes in a match without permission,
      • If an observer attacks another observer,
      • If a brawler deliberately attempts to kill an opponent in a non-Death Match,
      • If a brawler uses magic in a match,
      • If anyone predetermines matches,

They risk violent reprisal and public humiliation as entertainment. Players must accept these non-negotiable risks. Furthermore,

      • If anyone brawls in a death match, and attempts to flee, they will be executed as entertainment.
Otherwise, everything else is fair game.

Unfortunately this is like middle of the day where I live.  I'm guessing most people in the US won't be able to attend because of school or work.

But I hope it goes well!  Post some results!

      Soon [tm]

It will take a little longer than expected though, but I'm planning to follow through on it, just need to get some stuff figured out and decide on a good time for it. I think it's a good idea, and unless Kull tells me not to, I will do my best to get it put together.

[I would like to attempt to start this event back up with more... regularity. I plan to attempt this on saturday 6/28/14 at about 6PM EST. I hope to see more people there, and will be posting flyers this weekend. If you need more info contact Asmo OOCly and I will be glad to help.] The Ynnwn looks at the gladiator's pit from the stands, sighing as he realises another day will likely go by without a decent fight to watch, or an opponent to fight. He pulls the hood of his cloak lower over his face "This town needs better entertainment." and walks off to start preparing.

He might mean EDT instead of EST. I wish they didn't fool with it. :(

      EDT is -4 UTC/GMT while EST is -5 UTC/GMT.

[Logs for the matches this time. I tried to doctor up any typos I saw.]

                       Match 1 Edge(Asmo) vs Kaerli

(18:19:50) Asmo walks over into the ring "When you're ready miss."
(18:21:05) Kaerli steps into the ring and drops into her stance "Want to start off, or shall I take the first swing?" with a small grin on her face.
(18:21:35) Asmo draws his swords and assumes a light defensive stance "Ladies first."
(18:22:58) Kaerli nods and steps in, opening the fight up with a feinted thrust at Asmo's neck from her left and a quick slash at Asmo's left hand from her right.
(18:25:52) Asmo turns slightly to the side and brings his right sword up to parry the thrust at his neck aside.
(18:26:48) Kaerli has already pulled back the feint, the swipe at Asmo's left hand hitting his left-hand sword instead. She is able to go for a thrust in at his left kidney with her left-hand sword, though...
(18:31:13) Kaerli dips her left shoulder to try to get under Edge's ramming attack, but can't. Her blade sort-of-lands but she is knocked backwards and has to stumble back a few steps before she can regain her balance and set up in her stance again "Nicely done."
(18:32:57) Asmo chuckles a bit "Glad those are trainers." then thrusts his right sword up at Kaerli's neck, his left staying close.
(18:33:59) Kaerli parries the blow with her left-hand sword, feinting a thrust low at Asmo's right kidney from her right-hand sword.
(18:36:27) Asmo brings his left sword in with a slash at Kaerli's stomach.
(18:37:44) Kaerli is forced to use her right-hand sword to deflect the slash away, bringing it back in for a slash at Asmo's stomach though.
(18:39:02) Asmo jumps back away from the attack, then goes back into a defensive stance "I think at this rate this one fight might take a bit, I'll yield this time."
(18:39:32) Asmo grins "We seem to have more people looking to fight anyways."
(18:39:54) Kaerli nods and smiles "Well fought, though, and yes...I'm sure we have more fighters now." She stuffs her training swords back into her pack.

                              Match 2 Anyastaysia vs Sliss

(18:45:14) Anyastaysia wanders into the ring
18:45:27) Sliss laughs, "I will have to go without armour than", And winks
(18:46:22) Sliss tosses his armour to the side
(18:46:25) Anyastaysia stretches, swinging her axes slightly
(18:46:53) Anyastaysia raises a brow and purrs softly "it will be a shame to mark up that body.. sorry about that"
(18:47:04) Sliss moves and jumps a bit to get warm
(18:47:40) Sliss grins, "I can handle it!"
(18:48:06) Jocas calls out to Anyastaysia "Miss! There are one hundred circles in for you if you win!"
      (18:48:21) Sliss nods, "Ready?"
(18:48:26) Anyastaysia waves a hand dismissivly at Jocas, smiling
      (18:49:46) Anyastaysia nods
(18:50:13) Asmo says: You can begin whenever you're ready.
(18:50:30) Sliss jumps forwards and makes a first move
(18:50:52) Anyastaysia throws her arm up to block him
(18:51:27) Anyastaysia takes a swing at Sliss' leg from a crouch
(18:52:19) Sliss jumps up but got scratshed a little bit
(18:52:44) Sliss grins, "playing dirty heuh!?"
(18:53:03) Anyastaysia smells blood on the air and growls, eyes glinting
(18:53:56) Sliss turns and slashed his swords behind him
(18:53:56) Anyastaysia's tail flicks sharply back and forth
(18:54:37) Anyastaysia ducks but takes a hit to the arm

(18:56:29) Sliss takes the hit and falls on the ground
(18:57:14) Anyastaysia siezes the opportunity to jump on his back and bite down into his shoulder blade
(18:57:46) Sliss grabs some sand and throws it in Anyastaysia's face while rolling sideways
(18:58:09) Anyastaysia hisses and backs up
(18:58:23) Anyastaysia swings her axes in wide arcs
(18:58:31) Anyastaysia shakes some sand form her eyes
(18:59:04) Anyastaysia blinks away the sand and snarls, fur bristling
(18:59:08) Sliss jumps backwards and prepares a sideways hit in the middle with his swords
(18:59:46) Anyastaysia is hit full on in the side and stumbles, while she is low she swings an axe up at his thigh
19:01:42) Sliss blocks the hit with his sword handle
(19:02:14) Sliss start moving quickly around
(19:02:20) Anyastaysia lashes her tail around sliss' ankle to trip him
(19:03:11) Anyastaysia swings her axe at his back
      (19:03:47) Anyastaysia growls
(19:05:02) Sliss roles further to overcome a hit and stands up [axe hits just behind him]
      (19:05:17) Anyastaysia hisses
(19:05:43) Sliss prepares a new attack
(19:05:52) Anyastaysia leaps overtop of him and turns around quickly, slashing at the back of sliss' legs
(19:08:36) Sliss 's leg is hit badly and he moves away and turns
(19:08:54) Anyastaysia licks some blood from her axe
      (19:09:06) Sliss grins
      (19:09:13) Anyastaysia advances on sliss
(19:10:51) Sliss jumps aside while quickly slashing his sword towards Anyastaysia's right arm
(19:11:34) Anyastaysia knocks his blade aside but still gets a knick in the arm
(19:12:24) Anyastaysia hisses and lunges at sliss, swinging both axes down toward his shoulders
(19:13:10) Anyastaysia winces as his sword has sliced her right arm
(19:15:14) Sliss blocks the hit with both swords and kicks his knee forwards
(19:15:37) Anyastaysia gets kneed in the stomach and falls backward
(19:16:14) Anyastaysia groans and clambers back to her feet
(19:17:12) Anyastaysia steps forward and swings at Sliss' right side
(19:19:18) Sliss turns a quarter while the axe scratshes his arm and knocks Anyastaysia with his helm hard
(19:20:43) Anyastaysia falls and rolls sideways
(19:21:11) Sliss throws his swords aside, "Enough"
(19:21:35) Sliss reaches his hand to help her up
      (19:21:50) Anyastaysia eyes him hesitantly
(19:22:09) Sliss grins, "Lets have a drink"
(19:22:26) Anyastaysia denies his hand and pulls herself up
      (19:22:30) Anyastaysia says: alright
(19:23:04) Sliss smiles, "You fight well "
(19:23:15) Anyastaysia nods, panting "as do you"

                           Match 3 Kaerli vs Jocas

(19:25:29) Kaerli chuckles to Jocas "Oh, there's a ladder there? Good to know!" noticing from the corner of her eye Jocas climbing down
(19:25:38) Jocas greets everyone and eyes Kaerli with a slight smile as he walks over to the ring, unclipping his cloak off his shoulder.
(19:26:01) Jocas says: So, it will be you?
(19:26:24) Kaerli trots into the ring herself "So...indeed, I suppose. You have any...preferences for me?"
(19:27:03) Jocas shrugs a little "I just got a new sabre commissioned and I wonder how well it works. Let's just not go for heavy injuries or death, shall we?"
(19:28:13) Kaerli nods "Agreed, I suppose" and draws her good swords herownself.
(19:28:52) Jocas looks up at Rykia and gives her a wink before unsheathing his own sabre from a finely decorated scabbard, holding his cape with his free paw and stepping back a little to get ready.
(19:30:34) Kaerli drops into her stance, opening the fight with a feint at Jocas' right hand from her left blade and a second feintedd slash at Jocas' thigh from her right blade.
(19:31:29) Jocas retaliates by waving his cloak at Kaerli's right arm before slashing up to parry her left sword, looking surprised at the quickness of her attack.
(19:32:54) Kaerli pulls both feints back quickly, returning her left blade with a slash at Jocas' right arm. Her other feint is caught by Jocas' cloak though, as she hasn't seen a cloak-and-blade fighter before.
(19:33:38) Jocas rolls on the ground towards the left, reaching out to slam a kick at Kaerli's right shin while tugging his cloak back, either to regain control of it or to destabilize her.
(19:35:02) Kaerli drops her leg out slightly to put the spikes on her right knee in the path of Jocas' kick. The cloak rips on her blade then pulls free, this rendering her unable to attack with her right-hand blade.
(19:36:05) Jocas yelps softly and hisses in pain, using the dull edge of his sabre to smack right at the back of Kaerli's knee, moving quickly as he stands up and dashes past her to quickly moving behind her back.
(19:36:53) Kaerli has her stance collapsed by this, dropping to one knee before coming back up into a delayed spin.
(19:37:47) Jocas takes the chance to slap the flat of his sword at her back while also using the handle to shove her face-first to the ground.
(19:39:11) Kaerli can't catch up with Jocas' circling around her and takes the flat of the sword to her upper back, across her shoulder blades. She is forced forward by this and takes a couple of steps to regain her balance, putting a proper spin in this time.
(19:40:20) Jocas quickly swirls the cloak around his forearm and stands in a defensive pose, point raised and aiming at her chin while his waist is turned, feet firmly planted on the ground, waiting on Kaerli's next move.
(19:40:51) Kaerli steps back in, going for a kick at Jocas' right knee.
(19:41:46) Jocas hops up and swings his blade down at Kaerli's left swordguard, to try and disarm her before he falls, back first, to the ground.
(19:42:39) Kaerli tries to parry it, but the blade slides off her right-hand sword before catching her left-hand swordguard and yanking the sword from her hand.
(19:44:07) Jocas quickly shoves the shortsword away before rolling to the side and quickly standing up, throwing a jab at Kaerli's right wrist while covering his chest with his forearm, covered by his cloak.
(19:45:48) Kaerli swims her right-hand blade over Jocas' jab and spins to keep up with Jocas' roll to the side. She goes for his left wrist with her own left hand.
(19:46:46) Jocas is caught off balance and struggles to get free of Kaerli's grip, using his body to shove her away as he quickly shakes his left arm to rid it from the cloak.
(19:48:44) Kaerli is shoved backwards, having to step back to regain her balance. She keeps a firm hold on Jocas' left arm though, pulling him with her.
(19:49:38) Jocas looks quite surprised as he is facerolled onto the ground, spitting some sand before he quickly regains control and rolls on his back, swinging his blade at Kaerli's to confuse her and get a chance to stand up
(19:51:07) Kaerli has her other blade knocked wide by this, but hangs onto it. She scrambles to her own feet and comes back at Jocas with a slash at his right thigh and an attempt to grab his right wrist with her left hand.
(19:51:56) Jocas quickly squirms like a salamander on the ground, reaching with his now free left arm to grab at Kaerli's ankle and tug her down to the ground.
(19:52:54) Kaerli is yanked atop Jocas by this, her left elbow coming down at Jocas' right shoulder [where is Jocas' sword in this?]...
      (19:53:13) Jocas says: (righthand)
      (19:53:22) Kaerli says: [I mean: position/orientation]
(19:53:43) Kaerli says: [trying to figure out if Jocas impaled Kaerli here xD]
(19:53:50) Jocas says: (then no :P)
(19:53:57) Jocas says: (Don't worry, let me post)
(19:56:19) Jocas has his sword arm outstretched, growling and shutting his eyes as he instinctively throws a punch at the side of Kaerli's head with his left hand before trying to roll on top of her, still clutching onto his sword, struggling on the ground.
(19:58:22) Kaerli twists herself askew, using her right shoulder to take the punch instead. She doesn't really have Jocas pinned for much though as her elbow missed as well; this allows Jocas to get atop her, but the fight's not over quite yet...
(19:59:55) Jocas uses quickly scrambles up to his feet, stumbling a bit away from Kaerli before swinging a kick at her right hand to knock her sword away.
(20:00:37) Kaerli swings her sword at Jocas' kick, edge-first, while grabbing at his ankle with her free hand.
(20:01:46) Jocas winces in pain as the hardened leather gets a gash and his ankle gets a cut in result. He decides it's time to stop placing nice as he quickly slashes towards Kaerli's face, across her nose, as he falls, growling menacingly.
20:04:01) Kaerli twists aside again, taking the blow on one of her shoulders as she scrambles back to her feet again. She then attacks Jocas' right hand with her own blade.
20:05:16) Jocas quickly brings his sabre up and sideways to block it, rolling his arm a bit and limping back before he throws a quick jab at Kaerli's thigh, caking the sandy ground with the blood trickling from his ankle.
(20:07:16) Kaerli tries to parry Jocas' jab, but can't get to the hooked jab in time, the blow catching in her chain. Blood trickles down from the resulting flesh wound as she grits her teeth and tries to 'punt' her sword out at Jocas' right arm
(20:08:40) Jocas makes his blade meet Kaerli's quickly, pushing it away with his guard and then aims a straight slash at her left forearm to mark her again.
(20:09:54) Kaerli uses the rib of her bracer to block the slash. She comes back at him with the spikes on her left elbow, aiming them at Jocas' right elbow.
(20:11:21) Jocas rolls like he's dancing around Kaerli, dodging the strike just by an inch and giving his back to her, before he quickly jams his elbow back at her midriff to get her to hunch over, at least.
(20:12:20) Kaerli swings her left elbow back down at Jocas' elbow, attacking his right thigh with her sword.
(20:13:31) Jocas cringes visibly as his thigh gets a bad slash, but, in his position, he just brings his sabre up to touch Kaerli's throat, right below her chin, to make the edge press against her skin, looking at her in the eye.
(20:15:28) Kaerli looks back into Jocas' eyes for a long moment. "This is one of the best fights I've had in a while, thank you for coming down to the ring."
(20:16:51) Jocas smiles weakly and lowers his sword, sheathing it before offering his hand to Kaerli. His right leg is almost useless now, and he's visibly trembling and trying not to lean on it.
(20:17:13) Kaerli says: But...I suppose you'd be able to win this one trivially at this point from here.
(20:18:02) Kaerli sheathes her sword after cleaning the blood off it, and shakes Jocas' hand firmly before collecting her other blade and sheathing it too 'Thank you"
(20:18:49) Jocas nods a little before he falls over, his vision darkening from the blood loss. Some people are more affected by it than others.

[And so we come to the end of the matches, luckily we had a good doctor show up to watch the event who could stitch Jocas back up.]
If Roses are red... and violets are blue, why oh why can't I be purple?

[Alright, sorry it's been longer than I originally planned between the last one and this one. I would like to announce the next Ring of Daggers to be planned for about 4pm EDT next sunday, so 20 UTC roughly. Maybe I'l try prettying up the forum post for the matches this time... not sure how well I'll do but I'll try.]
