Planeshift Creature Compendium
« on: December 17, 2013, 10:40:43 am »
I've put together a simple (and not so pretty) list of the monsters of planeshift. I tried to order them in a general order of difficulty but likely there are a number out of place. There's also a few who had no info at all so if you can help add to the table please post it and i'll update the page.

http://ivan.mnsi.net/planeshift/ps_creature_compendium.html

Hope this isn't considered too 'spoily' but similar info is available from a few sites. I just sorted it out so I knew which things to rank up on next. Delete the post if you have too but please add to it if you can.

It is, certainly... And apart from that, these values are subject to balancing, anyway.

but similar info is available from a few sites.

The project leader won't like them either.

How is this spoily? All games have this kind of info floating around the net for everyone to see.

Nice job, Tillen.

::| woa ! How did you do to have each beasts stats ?? Even with my Nature Intuition Spell i can't Grrr  ;D

And when you say "hit point" it's toward which level of what armor ? Toward which level of which stats ?

P.S : it's spoily because basically we see all the "behind mechanics". Of course it's spoily. Well made tho.

Any information other than officially sanctioned sites about Planeshift that isn't behind a registration barrier is spoilery and always has been. Don't pee in Talad's sandbox. ;)

Interesting... While It's nice to have raw data like that, I can't say that knowing the numbers really helps all that much more than simply knowing which npc's are stronger than which. For training, knowing which npc's are most optimal to work on next, where they are and what they drop is really all I need to know.

If I need a certain drop like hides, I'll train on one group, if I need money, I'll work on a group that drops valuables and trade them in.

it is spoilerish ... however we have a wiki which is meant to provide players with useful informations (hopefully avoiding spoilers), would be good if someone would be interested in improving this: http://planeshift.top-ix.it/pswiki/index.php?title=Creatures

The idea of the Compenidum is a good one,
but I agree it should be marked as a spoiler.

I don't want to build a spoilers site. In fact, I won't.

What is wrong with that list on the PSWiki and what needs to be added? I could add to it I guess.

Nothing really "wrong", just lacking a bit of details. Yet, it should be generic and vague, no specific values (individuals may vary, and balancing attempts may vary them again). Something that could be added may be their recently introduced attacks, in a less technical but rather graphic description (e.g. Arangmas may throw webs and bite venomously; Ulbernauts may throw rocks {not: cast rock spells}; ...)

I've never understood how ulbernauts throw rocks. They have no method of grabbing.

No need to grab a rock, they just have to hit them hard with their claws.

Look for a video of a "mine clearing flails".

That just flings crap everywhere. There's no aim. The closest comparison in the real world would be something like a baseball bat. You can aim the ball if you hit it right. But, in an ulbernaut's case, there is no pitcher. They might have to dig up the rock (let me add they have no method of scooping, either) and then... fling it. I'm trying to picture how they could even get it off the ground. If the rock was larger than both claws combined, I could see an ulbernaut lifting a rock. But how would it be thrown? Ulbernauts do not have the dexterity to hold on to the rock through the movement of a throw. They could drop the rock on something, trapping it or smashing it. But there is no way they could throw a rock with aim.

There are also no rocks that an ulbernaut could feasibly move near anywhere they currently exist. So it just looks like they are casting BrW spells. I always thought they were wizards, which never made sense. And that's probably what the non-forumer noobs think as well. It seems like no one thought this through. Like, what were the developers imagining? Are ulbernauts supposed to be a crossbreed between manly bears and deadly chopsticks?
