Rules Update
« on: January 01, 2014, 05:13:23 pm »

Merry Xiosiamas PlaneShifters and Happy New Year! We wish you a merry Christmas and we bring you some good news! We've just delivered a small rules update. The update includes Crafting, Engine and Spells! The changes are all server side and will not require a client update!

Crafting:
  • Many bugs with Platinum Steel Swords have been fixed
  • Helm enchanting: helm enchanting in now available for crafters, if you already possess the crafting book to enchant armors you will notice the instructions for helm enchanting have been added to your book. You will also notice recipes for enchanting the Plate Mail armor: plate mail armor quest has not been released yet so you cannot craft Heavy Armor until the quest will be available, but as soon as it is you'll be able to enchant your plate mail armor too.
  • Chain Mail crafting: we slightly changed the chain mail crafting data, the procedure is unchanged but with the fixes we made it will be easier and it will take a lot less time to craft a chain mail armor, we also rebalanced the armor pieces prices to make it more economically rewarding for crafters.

Spells
  • Due to mirroring problem the spells released in the 0.6 update were not available to research, we fixed it and those are now available. In the meanwhile we have also improved some of the scripts. As reminder new spells include: spells able to morph the spellcaster, new low level direct damage spells for azure and brown way spells. A new spell able to "charm" weak monsters, this is experimental and will be the first of a new series of spells.

Engine
  • More magical items properties are displayed in the description windows! Now for all the items already identified also display the Stats and Skills bonuses, Mana/HP bonuses and the Attack and Defence modifiers. Items already identified will not need to be identified again to display the new properties.

Ah, the new spells are available fantastic news. Going to have to get my main on and try and work out the glyph combinations, without cheating.

And I know for crafters the changes to chainmail recipes will be welcomed.

Nice job Tuathanach and eonwind.

That's some good news indeed.
Now for all the items already identified also display the Stats and Skills bonuses, Mana/HP bonuses and the Attack and Defence modifiers
Oh, the latter of these have been really hard to estimate or deduce, so I am glad this relevant piece information is now available to all players. Now only one essential thing is missing, the defensive base stats of those many different shield types (and of the weapons, accordingly). That should not be too spoilerish either, because it is near impossible to derive explicit rules from the numbers.

@ Bonifarzia:

You will certainly know that the latin plural of "bonus" is "boni". ;) (^ Talad's quote)

"This spell enables the caster to morph their body in order to take on physical aspects of a chosen animal. The transformation confers some of the animal's physical abilities to the caster but to cast the spell an animal part must be consumed by the magic."

Is it really possible to choose ??
I was morphed into a goffrel everytime I've tried...
Too many chiefs, not enough Indians...

The default animal is goffel, but there are also a few larger animals you can turn into to. To do that you need to hold a part off the animal and then cast the spell. It is dependent on level so the more skilled you are the larger the animal you can turn into.

The GM mage Shaadrack Ustmag demonstrated that on the MagCon2 by holding a Tefusang and Ulber claw in his hand. (Simulated by a GM command because the spell data was not yet available on the game server.) He said only a few specific animals are supported by holding their respective body parts; probably such parts which belong to limbs?
