So, the book was in the Black Flame temple, not a high traffic area at the best of times. Apparently nobody saw it there because nobody wrote in it, although there was some evidence that the temple had been visited. The fire carkerass was halfway up the passage at one point.
There were two fountains in Hydlaa that I had tainted with murky essences, one up beside Kada Els and the other in lower East Hydlaa, I had 4 more anonymous essences that I was going to spread around. I had Klozie doing laundry at the one by Kada's then drying them by the plaza wall near the furnaces but did not develop that aspect too far. Kra has no BF leaning but was going to be a victim of contact induced delirium.
Really the only reason any of my characters have done those quests was to be able to edit dialog or otherwise report bugs found. My characters do not have too much of their own personality. Those quests are remarkably easy to do, even a starting character can complete them without doing anything else. They rely on nothing more than doing them in the right order and the earliest ones don't even have that requirement.
I suspect that there is a segment of currently running officially supported RPs that have a BF backgound, the rogues behind that alchemist for one, but they are obfuscated or abstracted completely away from their origin. Nobody wants perma-death for their main characters so most are unlikely to involve them in such nefarious things. I thought keeping a public journal in the temple would be a good IC way to coordinate such things but the left hand need not know what the right hand is doing and vice versa.
I have never been much of a role player, even in my D&D days I was more of a rules lawyer, so it should not be surprising that I am abandoning this. If anyone wants to take any of the ideas I have presented and run with them, be my guest.
If you still can't understand what I am talking about then one of us has a problem and I'm willing to accept that it is all me :p
Yes, I choose obscurity over revealing to much detail. I thought that would intrigue. The number of views this thread generated seems to indicate I was correct and perhaps I was just too impatient and unwilling to flesh it out.
Perhaps I'll try something else some other time. It is just as likely not.
