when i hit connect on the ps main menu it starts itulizing things and when it gets to world it stops for like 45 secs then tells me the servers gone linkdead and to check to see if the server is up so i do and the server is up. so i try agine same thing happens what am i doing wrong???

There seems to be a group of people that are getting a Linkdead messages. At the moment we do not understand why this is occuring. All I can think of at the moment is that there either some sort of firewall or proxy that is not allowing the client to receive messages from the server. I know that it can be fustrating to download it and not have it work but we simply do not have a solution at this point.

That being said, messages like \"It says I\'m Linkdead please tell me what I can do to fix\" will most likely not be answered because we dont have a solution. Also PLEASE do not contact Fragnetics about any errors you get about PlaneShift. Here are some things to check:





Check to make sure that you don\'t have a firewall running

If you have a fire wall make sure that it allows UDP on port 13331 from planeshift.fragnetics.com

Try using the ip addresss 203.81.47.27 instead of the name



Note that this also leads to another problem with bad accounts. This is what happens
a) you upload your character
b) the server gets this message and creates the account for it
c) the server sends a message back
d) the client gets this message
e) the client sends the player create information
f) the server creates the player

Now what I see is happening is that step (d) is failing so the server cannot send a message to your client for some reason (unknown at this point, works for many others ). Now because of this you have an account and not a player. This means that the server is in a Bad State (tm) with regards to your character. So you have an account but no player. That is why it says error with your account. You either need to a) ask to have that account deleted so you can try to recreate it or b) try a different character name.

Again if you have a linkdead problem try reading the above notes and try a few times. If you keep getting Linkdead then try a few times. If it still does not work then there isn\'t really much we can do to help so posting it is not valuable. If, however, you found a solution that does work PLEASE post it, but if you just repeat the same error over and over again it is not productive.

There may be one other fix, what OS are you running?
