The lag has nothing to do with the network.  It\'s because of the current rendering engine is not finished yet.  It\'s something that is being worked on constantly by the Crystal Space team and is getting better all the time.

I suffer from the bad framerates, too, could do nothing more than leave my report on it in the tech forum on it...

But back to the engine: is it a problem of the crystal space engine or of your your implementation or usage of it?
I hope it?s no general problem (with every game using this engine having these problems), then I guess it still lasts at least half a year until CS has strongly evolved  and I can play PS in a reasonable way :(

Or can the Planeshift team itself do something about it?
Whilst looking at Sourceforge, I found some of the other zillion rendering engines like Irrlicht, Neoengine or Ogre...
Don?t know much about game engines, but could it help to implement features of these or address problems of the current one?

Currently even heavy fog would make me more happy when looking at my fps...

I\'m also lagging enormous but the server is far away and my ping is high.  Powered by a P4 3 GhZ @ 800 MhZ FSB, 1 GB Dual Channel DDR and an Ati Radeon 9800 pro the game should have been running smoothly with all settings on high.  I hope you guys get a solution fast.  I\'m looking at a slideshow instead of playing a game :(

lol

I agree it should work very well for you.  You might try deleting all the OpenGL entries out of your user.cfg file so that the engine can redetermine what hardware acceleration features can be used on your card.

You should also triple check that your drivers for your card are the latest greatest ones.

Hope that helps,
Venge

I was sufferring from \'lag\', too. My fps was in the range of 0.06 and 0.34 anytime I got near an entrance, like the library or tavern.
Try going into Planeshift Setup (pssetup.exe) and switch from 16 to 32 bit screen depth.
It has worked wonders for my old system.
I still get lower framerates at building entrances, but it only goes down to 8 or 9 fps now.
As a matter of fact, I have even started the quest...
yay me!
(now if I could only finish it)

hope this helps
