Can't log in to game

I'm an old player and wanted to return to the game for the first time in years. I have the game downloaded and was finally able to make an account to make this forum account. I'm incredibly frustrated. I've donated money and I just want to play the game but I can't even log in. I can log in to the official website and after several attempts at guessing the color of the sun that I haven't seen in 10+ years, I can finally log in to the forums to ask for help.  This is, by far, the most un-user friendly experience I've ever had in a video game. I just want to log in. Please help, mods/devs/GMs. I would greatly appreciate it. My original name was Dererun Goret, and I would like to keep that name if possible.

First thing I would suggest is to try to login in MyPlane: https://planeshift.teamix.org/myplane/

If the login works there , then it will also work in game, assuming you are speaking of the current PlaneShift version, and not the new one made with Unreal.
