Other means of Transportation

Other than the Pterosaur hopefully there should be some other means of travel.

Maybe a Carriage (probably there will be), Canoe, Boat (probably there will be), Horse?, Airship? (sounds cheesy in a game of this setting...)

well some kind of airplane why not ; I mean just a balloon nothing with a motor of course ; look at final fantasy, they often have strange airplanes but only a few with motors ; it could be justified by any magicals croll and so on

hey man, this is an mmorpg not vice city-everquest online ;) could you imagine the skill required to ride something like a dragonfly? acceleration = 0-100 in .003 seconds :p

but it would be soo cool, like warp speed where everything goes blurry.

I kinda like that shloopuf thing off ffX, some large animal capable of carrying entire parties and guilds.

There\'s also the giant bat cargo carrier creature (forgot the name) other than the pterosaur...

Why not a tame spell?
With that, you could weaken a monster, then tame spell it for it to let you ride it.
A fast, small ride would be good for an overgrown thunder bug.(Read monsters thread). It moves fast, but has a hunk of HP, Rendering it very hard to catch.

no not a tame spell a animal tamer person that can tame stuff and would have to tame stuff small and when you get better in the skill you can tame stuff you shouldnt have to get them half dead to tame enless its  hard thing like a dragon or something

I agree, no spell. Only taming-skill. But I have to disagree with gonenowhere on the dragon thingy. Dragons shouldnt be tameable. Imagine a wizard riding a red dragon, hurling giant fireballs in every direction. Beatable? Nah..

I think taming the animal shouldnt be enough to ride it.

You should need to train it to ride it (with tame skill). Also for riding, attacks while riding or with the mount you should need a skill like \"ride\" (taming shouldnt allow to ride a creature).
And you (and the monsters) should be able to throw a rider from his mount, especially when he is fighting while riding.

Thats what I meant, excpet for the throwing him of his animal thing. But, you dont have to have tame skill to be able to ride an animal, you can buy one :).

With the throwing him from his animal thing, i mean with spells, ranged and hellebard-like weapons you (and monsters) should have a chance to hit the rider, too. And if they hit hard enough the rider fell of his animal.

I think of allowing a rider to use his animal in fight, you know like war elephants or cavalerie.
