Hmm.. I see you point now, and I like it. BUT, what if, lets say, a ranger (ranged) flies a green dragon (ranged attack), wont that make it impossible for melee\'s to kill them?
Browsing the forums when I\'m bored, nothing more.

Yes, that is a problem.
A melee char has problems when he has no similar animal(flying, running) to a ranged attacker. For example he must outrun a horse, to attack a riding ranger.

One way to balance this is a malus for ranged attacks/spells while riding. But for ranged attacks of the mount, i dont know another answer as not allowing that.

I just wanted to say that Charisma should be a major factor in tame skill.
Also try to spend much time with the animal you want to ride would low the difficulty.

There u have the whole Animal tamer job.. First,  goto the forest and find that gigant lizard or dragon fly, bring it back home, train it, and sell it expensive to a guild or a person... That would be cool! I whanna my own matrix-lizard !  :D

charisma and some strength or dexterity, depending on how big or elusive the creature you want to tame is...

but mainly charisma.. then you could combine your skills in taming with some of the darker arts of magic :P
