The EZ controls guide
« on: June 27, 2003, 05:00:01 am »
This is a suggestion to help noobs.

On the download page you should have link to a list of all the controls that are in the game.
SPACE:  jump
Page Up : look up
/help: displays help menu

...
...

and instruct the hapless noobs to go to that page and print out the information BEFORE they play.

let me kno what you think

you could also just try figuring out the buttons for yourself... but on the commands, I agree with you...

I agree.  Very few newbies are reading the player guide (unlike me, I read every word).  Which seems quite odd and lacking in common sense, but most of them are polite at least (of course some aren\'t).
The key to manipulative bargaining is to ask for something twice as big as what you want, then smile and nod when you are talked down to your original wish. You are still young, my apprentice, and have much to learn in the ways of the force. -UtM

I agree with Monketh.  There is no way to make newbies read instructions because they don\'t read the resources we have already made available.  If they are not presented with an answer at the exact moment that a particular question occurs them, they are immediately lost and confused, and it never occurs to them to quit and go back and read the website...

I do not understand this way of operating, but I don\'t understand a lot of things about the animal kingdom. :-)

you\'re confusing two very delicate web terms here, see, I\'m still a newbie, I\'ve only been here a couple of weeks after all.

however, you are talking about what\'s known as a nOOb

I\'m using star wars galaxies as a reference here just because I have the most experience there

a newb will log on, after reading every page, then log on and ask questions that he doesn\'t see answers to after browsing a bit...

a nOOb will log on, breeze right past the FAQ section, straight to the forums, register, open every board he can and ask on every one of them if there are any UB3I2 1337 j3[)1 PAs he can join.

Johnny Depp\'s a poser to the throne. No one will ever play the part as well as Gene Wilder
