Question that my raise eyebrows
« on: July 10, 2003, 12:22:50 pm »
Hi people ;

I have recently sent an application to join the team of developers as a web dev.

I was wondering what would your replies be if I had my own forum used in the site instead of this free forum ?

Although its fine and working good there are some things that are not fit for a project this size ..

Thanks all ;
Nawaf ( thats my real name)

lol its ok, i understand what u meant....

but are you saying you would like to make a more professional forum? if so that would be pretty cool....

and once again if so could you put a quick reply thing so then you dont have to click on reply and you can just do it within the msg already

Gabberheads or wise talkers ?

hehe ...

Well that would be a very nice curve to tackle when designing it .

And on the other hand since your actually interested in the subject . Would you people settle only for a forum or you guys really want to kill me and add an pointless real time chat area instead of this irc thing ?

Please note that these additions will only happen if I am actually approved to join and that it will take time to develop these applications . So if you share these thoughts pray for me :P

You seem pretty sure that the devs will accept you, what with the signature and all... have you actually had any response from them? I don\'t mean to sound harsh, but perhaps you should slow down a little. I know the feeling when you\'re sure something is going to happen and someone turns round to you to say \"Sorry, not interested.\"

That said, though, good luck to you. You never know, you might just be an extremely skilled designer that they\'ll snatch up as quick as a whippet. :)

Well I gotta say I thought of that ..

But since they haven\'t yet responded I\'m allowed to draem , ain\'t I ;) ..

Well to tell you the truth I just was sitting here reading all these things . I can\'t touch any dev too except Notepad ( and some still think that program was just an waste of time ) cause I\'m on holiday . Felt bored so what\'s better than to start some thread ;)

Hope you agree with me as your opinon is valubale to me whether I make it or not ...

Mind showing us some of your work? Just curious, I might know of you - if you\'re a member of TheRoot. Another thing; are you applying as a web developer or designer? Once again, just curious. :)

Relax eL_Qadsawi, some of the people that wanted to join the team waited for 6 months.

Actually the best way to join the team is to go on the IRC channel (irc.freenode.net #planeshift) and ask for the leader of the department you want to work on.
In your case it\'s Talad.
You must bring some sample of your work. If there is an open task for you, you\'ll be tested and then perhaps join. ;)

Anyway I think Nick is the moderator of the forum. Personnally I find it quite professional.

WooooW relax people .... Its not like I\'m gonna suddenly take over the whole thing or something ...

yea I applied as a web designer do mind my mistakes as I am known to do such things.didn\'t know that a word might actually lead an offensive against me . and its seems to me that your just furious for me just saying it loud that I did apply ..

Well I\'m not really rushing the people working because as I said I am on holiday so you won\'t find me doing some actually work straight away ... I don\'t think that these guys need to spend 6 months reading my email .. It wasn\'t that long ....

And thanks for telling me about the mirc channel .. But you see I don\'t pursue it any longer .. I sent my application to the director of this project and personally I think it is enough ...

Well this forum is profesional but don\'t you think that this >> Powered by: Burning Board 1.2 ?2001-2002 WoltLab GbR << tuins it ? Why shouldn\'t it be made purely for this magnificent project ;)

Well if you really want to see my work then you might of heard of Q8Gamers ? Well I think not because it was only on like for a few months and I couldn\' t have it on much longer ... If you want I can make my forum on that site downloadable ...

And people lets make a deal ? If I actually do get chosen to be in the team and do finish what I planned and you don\'t like it at all .... Not just the main layout but also the extra stuff here and there .. then I will pull my membership out and will return this site as it is . But please give me a chance I have just applied .. Now its your turn to have some patient ... :)

eL_Qadsawi, cool down. No one here is angry nor flaming you. We simply told you that becoming a part of the dev team is a process that takes quite some time. :)

Can it be that you (and other wannabe devs that posts) are doing something wrong in the e-mail?
There is perfectly good info on the net on how to make perfect portfulio so that devs get the energi to answer..

My mail to join the dev. team was exactly like it saz on the website that the mail should be,, and I got answered 5 mins later.
But I was probebly just lucky  :]
Put the pot down, no dont take another puff!, put it down. Thank you.

Believe me man I sent everything they wanted .. even a bit more ...

The prob with the email is that info@planeshift.it doesn\'t work well... Personally I think it doesn\'t work at all....

Well 5 mins thats a bit lucky don\'t you think .... but good job anyhow ;)

Talad\'s email works just fine (the info one).  He probably has you sorted in a folder of people to respond back to and just hasn\'t gotten around to it.  This is probably because a) he gets a ton of requests (at one point I know he had a queue of 67 people to respond to), and b) web devs are not a high priority at this point.

I\'m just speculating though.

Yea well I tried to send my first application to that email but unfortunatly I got an error saying that the email is not activated (I trust hotmail) so I tried again sending and the same message. So I did some looking around and contacted the director at his email and I was told that he did not recieve an email at the info@planeshift.it inbox concerning my application and he said he would like me to send him my app. again which I did .. heres the quote directly from my email

\"I\'ve not received an earlier email today, just this one. So please resubmit it to this address: pancallo@netscape.net be sure to have attachment with size less than 1 Mb.\"

I know that you get problems with mail servers since I did and still have one running for my old website ... I too sometimes get emails saying this is the 14 email sent with no reply. And when I check it appears to be the first email I got ......

I am sure that the director or talad has recieved my app.

Thanks vengeance for your care ....
