TOOL for planeshift : Quick Tweak !!!
« on: July 10, 2003, 09:49:27 pm »
Well I\'m a french student, and I try to keep some programming training during holidays, especially in visual basic that I don\'t use much....

So it was just the good time to make a small quite simple tool in visual basic for Planeshift, which amazes me...

Moreover, most people don\'t know how to edit commands, change mouse sensivity, put in fullscreen...and that\'s what my small tool does !

So I suggest you download it if you want, and perhaps the developpers may put in on the main site if they enjoy it ; again, don\'t expect something wonderfull, but it works, that\'s enough !!!

Here\'s the thing ( 400 ko )

Unpack in Ps directory and follow the instruction

I thought something like this might pop up soon. :)

Thank you very much for putting the effort into creating this tool. This will make tweaking much more hassle-free for everyone. Good work!

Thanks very much ; I hope it\'ll serve the community, especially beginners who certainly need some tweaking, like setting in fullscreen, or showing FPS, mousesensibility and so on

Don\'t hesitate to tell me what you think of it, and if I can improve this somehow

Ummm...Maybe it\'s just me, but I downloaded it and it didn\'t work. Is there a problem or should I go get my computer overhauled? :(

Worked fine for me, but do you plan on adding to it?  I\'m pretty sure that it\'s possible to deactivate the rain and I think that would be a useful option since it hurts the framerate and isn\'t relevant to gameplay right now.  That would be a nice option to add.  I don\'t know how you do it but I\'m sure someone here does.

cool Jefka...but, um, I use Linux.  (apparently, I\'m part of a tiny minority, hehe)  do you have some ANSI sourcecode?  I use Linux, and I could try compiling it...

error 5 happens if you click twice on a button, not once

BTW after chages you have to clik apply and quit the program

Eh sorry for linux this is visual basic ; I can publish the source code if you can translate it to C however ; I\'ll be away this week end but when I\'m back i\'ll do it

I forgot : for the rain, as for as I know it is synchronized on the server : when it rains for one, it rains for every players; so the sky colour and lightning, well I don\'t think i\'ll change it, anyway it\'s not this that is making that lag ; so on the contrary I will look how to stop the rain drops from falling, because this is the problem

well i\'m just looking at the files and ...I found how to make the rain drops react as snow...so if we change the texture of the rain drop it\'ll really looks like snow ; this will be put in the program later on i think, it\'s fun

But to stop the rain, I really can\'t figure out right now ; I\'ll keep you informed of what I find

No, unfortunately I mean it won\'t start.  Am I missing some files needed to run vb programs?

System32, are you sure? All the system files are located in System. That\'s where I put the vb6fr.dll anyway.

Also you may need MSVBVM60.dll, which can be downloaded here . Put this file in windows/system aswell and you should be able to run the program.

sorry it took me so long to reply.  I\'ve been away for the weekend...

well, I can compile the Visual BASIC code.  there are plenty of VB, OB, and PB compilers for Linux.  I *thought* some came with Red Hat 8.0, but I may be wrong...

of course, I always like checking over the code when changing architectures anyway.  just trying to compile won\'t be well optimized...
