Combine magic/ combo Magic
« on: July 11, 2003, 11:00:33 am »
Well I mean, when a few characters form a \"party\", and the first one cast a spell, followed by someone else in the party, the spells would\'ve more effect. The same with normal weapons.

Example:

\"Grizlezgrom cast the spell of Lightning shock at the Young Orc dealing 56 damage!\"
\"Darkmaster cast the spell of Thunderball at the young orc dealing 23 damage plus 26 combo damage!\"
\"Lightning magic combo x 2 performed!\"

Or something like that. It would force some weaker players to work together, plus, along with that less PKing will happen as the weaker ones create one strong spell.

The power of Fire should not be underestimated...NEVER!

I like that idea... combining magic so that you might deal more damage... It would enforce the mage characters to team up more often, and not be entirely dependant on a strong warrior to tank the damage, the mages would just zap the monsters together before they got close :D

It also makes a better reason for people to have friends that they hunt with all the time.  Get all the equipment in sinc with the other person.  Lets say there\'s a specialist in lightning magic, a warrior with a lightning sword and armor, and martial arts master who increases his speed with the power of lightning, all their spells and abilities would start to intermingle and help each other more and hurt the enemy more and affect the enemy in different ways.

Woooo, Chrono Trigger, yeah Double and Triple Tech attacks, those would rule!  Umm yeah, that\'s what the idea reminds me of.  In Chrono Trigger characters could use their skills together to execute more powerful skills.  Like two characters had a special slash attack that when both of them used it they would do a dual slash that did more damage then using the attack seperately on their own.  Skills could combine to do physical attacks (like the double slash), magic attacks(freeze and burn, like IcyHot except painful), and phycial/magic(a lightning sword strike) attacks.

Of course since each player is controlled by a person here, you would have to time the attacks to do such things properly, and if you did it would do more damage than if you just hit an enemy then blasted them with a spell.  Be a great way to promote teamwork in the game!

The idea is probably more like Breath of Fire 4, I think.

Yea, more like bof IV. It\'s impossible to be like chrono trigger as no-one can cast a spell at the same time.

Ummm, right, and just why exactly is it impossible to cast a spell at the same time?  If you think timing would be an issue becaus of lag and stuff, you could actually select to do a dual cast, or dual attack with a party member instead of having to time it then, just like you do in Chrono Trigger.  And someone pretty much just posted that idea in the Circle Magic thread.
