I know the game is free but how do the developers pay for the server to host the game are they like sponsered?
Cut The Mullet,
Rock and Roll Mc Donalds,
and Arnold Schwarzenegger,
all these songs and more by
the ever famous Wesley Willis

Yes, the good people at http://www.fragnetics.com provide us with a server and the bandwidth to run our server on.   We really appreciate the efforts of their team and we hope to have a long relationship that will be beneficial to both teams.

will the devs sell advertising space any time?  I know some sticklers would hate seeing adds placed anywhere in game but if artists took a hand in making it fit into the environment (it has to be remembered that advertising in the form of signs and paintings predates the Romans) I dont think alot of people would mind anything so long as the game doesn\'t turn into Rune{Scape} and prolongs the life of Planeshift

I would really only find advertising for thing outside the game world acceptable in more modern games that are closer to our time because then its just like the advertising you find on the street and its ok I think the only advertising ingame should be for shops in game like Kada\'s Tavern there should be designated walls were taverns giulds shops and stalls can advertise by putting signs/posters on the wall

I suggested this a while back, but I realise that when you start doing this for money, you won\'t stop, so advertising is a bad idea. Besides, there\'s nothing that could be advertised that would be relevant to the game (apart from maybe being able to buy Stella Artois in the tavern)

Advertising = bad idea.

Sponsoring = best idea so far. The challenge of course is making it worth the sponsors while. That\'s what I am wondering if the team has any ideas for. Does the Team have any comments. I still like my Publishing company sponsorship idea. The game stays free, There is no advertising and its a mutually beneficial arrangement for both parties.

Advertising is quite a twisted artistic craft though. The goal is different, so are the means.

That\'s a dangerous path. I wouldn\'t be too surprised if the next step was wild gangs of NPCs running and shouting advertisements in the streets of Yliakum.  Mmmm, some people do that for the guilds too.

PS: don\'t take all that too seriously  ;)
