Guild Registration
« on: July 22, 2003, 06:52:49 am »
After taking a look at the amount of guilds and their orginization, I found it impossible to even take a look at any of these. Thereappears to be no orginization of the guilds. I would like to propose an idea of some formal registration of the guilds in order to create \"official\" guilds. Though, I am not aware of anything such as that exists already. Something as simple as a page and a list of guilds, their alignment, amount of members, website link... because searching through the threads is extremely tiring.

This makes me feel both better and worse! I\'m busy doing a comparative study of existing guilds, kind of a survey. Right now I\'m nearing 10 guilds compared on the following criteria:
  • Aims
  • Nature/type of members accepted (Wizard, thief etc.)
  • Alignment
  • Ranking system
  • Allies
  • Enemies

I started for exactly the same reasons as you mention above, that makes me feel better  :P . Once 10 are compared I\'ll have it posted on the web and invite other guild leaders to fill in a form that will provide comparable information on all other guilds. Some are clearly defunct as you have mentioned. (If you\'re looking for one that is active just follow the link below our emblem  :D ) Arcane Order made a pledge to respond to applications for membership (click here to see Pledge in another thread ).

I feel worse because I haven\'t finished it yet and obviously I\'m not the only one missing such a service. Once I\'m done I\'ll post a thread here in Guilds Forum with a link to the survey.

That sounds good, wolfmane. Because there really ought to be something to set the standard for guilds as to eliminate these one to two week lasting guilds that seem to be all over the place. Though, I acknowledge every guild for their honest attempt, I\'d rather have a small amount of organized guilds than a large amount of loosely banded together \"groups.\"

Hi bonez,

Well the 400 shocks even me! We concentrate on guilds who we can see have active members on the PS forums and that recruit members. Shinji\'s initiative here has meant that we\'ve gone into turbo mode on the survey and hope to bring the 1st version relatively soon. You might be happy to hear that we have included Legendary Warriors in our top 10 survey  :D . (Btw Bonez are you a member of LW or do you only advertise for them, your name is not on the members list unless you use an aka other than bonez there  ?( )

Shinji Legendary Warriors  is a good bet as a guild if your looking for variety of characters. They have guild groups (not to be confused with ranks) that include wariors/fighters, wizards/mages, rogues, assasins and merchants.

Arcane Order  specializes in Mages but has sub-groups for fighter/mages (Spellswords) and Rogue/mages (Nightblades) and the posibility to specialize in all 6 ways of magic.

If your\'e really looking for variety try Bloodlines  that is composed of 12 sub-guilds, one each for every race in Yliakum, and a council (United Bloodlines Council - UBC) made up of the 12 leaders of each race/bloodline and 2-3- specially co-opted members. Each Bloodline sub-guild decides its own ranking system and has a fair degree of autonomy within the main Bloodlines Guild.

Also worth looking at are Shadowhand, , Explorers  and a new guild I personally like Knights of the Realm .

Please note none of the above are in any way official! This is only a personal pick of guilds that I personally have experienced to be well organised, strongly represented and active through members in PS forums and have a good web-presence. You can try them for yourself and I\'m sure there are many more good ones in the 400 that Bonez mentioned with whom I\'m not familiar yet.
That does it, now I\'m hopefully not stepping on too many toes!  :D

Yeah Shinji couldn\'t agree more, we want to show a comparison of the well organised and active guilds that also show integrity in the way they operate and behave towards other guilds. That way newcomers and existing Ppl can get a realistic overview of what is going on w.r.t. guilds.

Bad behaviour could be sanctioned by just ignoring such guilds.

well i do agree cuz there are really too many guilds but you should always give a new guild a chance otherwise you will only have some great guilds and none smaller one\'s so i say let them decide if they think their guilds can become stronger if they see no good future in it or small activity remove the guilds cuz non-active guilds are no guilds.
