Planeshift inspired dream/story
« on: July 22, 2003, 10:53:43 am »
I\'m a very left-brained person.  I\'ve tried writing stories in the past, but I simlpy have no creativity.  It seems that, thanks to Planeshift, this normally very grounded person has totally flipped!  One night (Thursday, July 17th, 2003 to be precise), I had a dream so bizarre that I had to write it down.  One of the strange facts about it is that I remember the whole thing, and it\'s very long!  I initially wrote a very rough overview so that I wouldn\'t forget.  Then I started to write a more readable very rough draft (as you will see).  I\'ve modified it a little from my original dream, but for the most part, it\'s a straightforward retelling.

It\'s a bizarre dream, it\'s bizarre that I remembered it, it\'s bizarre how long it is, and it\'s bizarre that my right hemisphere is actually doing anything!  I\'m normally such a nerd!

Chapter 1 only

Edit: Oh yeah, and the significance is that there\'s actually PS influence in the story, though you won\'t see it in chapter 1...

A bit tired now, but I\'ve downloaded the 1st chapter and will read it later + comment on it here Kluger.

I\'ve been up till 2 am lying outside on my hammock, smoking my pipe and thinking about my short story for Moogies short story competition. It was going very well, an aquatic elf female surfacing in a huge lake near the shore to see a huge battle enfolding right in front of her etc. Then it started to rain (not in the story, though it might still do that, but on me in the hammock  X( ). My pipe went out, I went in and the story went out the door (both left and right side of my brain.)

If you can shorten your story to under 300 words or there abouts you can submit it to Moogies competition.

competition?  well,  good thing I didn\'t know about it.  :-p  it would have turned out badly...

300 words?  I think I\'ll have trouble limiting it to 300 pages.  a lot happened in that dream!

(Edit: Betcha didn\'t expect terrorists, space, and carburetor cleaner in a PS inspired story.  I sure didn\'t.  :-?)

(Edit: Oh yeah, before putting chapter 1 into HTML, a writer friend of mine said that the identification of dialog was not traditional.  Just a warning.  :-)
