Gee those houses seem awfully wooden though . We are underground but there is still sunlight from the crystal and a self-contained eco-system, plants DO grow, I mean there are trees in the town after all.

I know that, but there is a big difference between having controlled patchs of foliage and trees and having a race who\'s entire way of life is dependent on the woodlands.[/COLOR]

The houses are wooden, there must be a forest somewhere, I don\'t think they made them out of scattered trees.  Doesn\'t matter though I\'m not for wood elves or anything, just saying it\'s possible.
Ninjas have feelings too.  Mostly they feel like dancing.

I don\'t see why there couldn\'t be forests in the top level.. The crystals radiation seems powerful enough to make trees grow in the city, so it wouldn\'t make sense that a forest couldn\'t exist :P

I don\'t know about Planeshift Biologie, but if people breathe oxygen, and oxygen is created by plants via photosynthesis, then there must be some forests somewhere...

But maybe Planeshift people don\'t need oxygen afterall, they might be photosynthetic beings themselves, who need only the azure sunshine... Have you ever seen anyone eating in PS ? :-P

edit : I forgot to talk about races... I think they\'re just fine the way they are. It\'s almost impossible to make a truly new race that does not look like elves, dwarves, demons, or humans and still look cool (any non-humanoid race would most likely look ridiculous or weird, and people wouldn\'t want to play as those strange creatures).

there are dragons in Horizons, and everyone wants to play that race.

hehe seems like half the server here is Endukai - hey Vengeance is there any way you devs could tell us the % of each race on the server right now?

Yeah but it wouldn\'t be too accurate since there\'s what four playable races?

true - but the endukai surge is somewhat annoying... yeah as if the rogue character worked... actualy unless if the devs figure something really weird for the rogues to do... I doubt many people will play them since thievery is the most amusing aspect of that kind of char.

I wish that rogues, which I will definately be, would have permanent invisibilty when not fighting during a night.  No matter, a rogue is just an ideal, I don\'t thing it should even be a class anymore cause what\'s the point?

I think, Derwoodly, that could be possibly the worst idea ever on this forum. :-)

Congratulations. :-)

Seriously, if anything we will take more familarity out of the races, not put more in.

Let me throw a little criticism back at ya.

The game story seems like it is still in development just like the game.  If your trying for a completely orginal game concept I dont think you are there.  You have Humans, Dwarves and Elves just like all the rest of the fantacy roll playing games.   Not that there is anything wrong with that.   The middle earth genre has sold millions of copies of games, books and movies.  But I don\'t have to tell you all about it, you have decided to make a game loosely based on it.   You should not be afraid to copy what is already a good idea.

To the rest of the posters who think the names are just fine the way they are you should get out of the house and actually try and pronounce the names to your family and friends.  That is unless you are a troll and have no family or friends.

I like the idea that this game will be playable on a Linux platform, but in its present state other games are going to kick its arse.

Good luck to yah, and God bless you, even the ones who are worshiping the Devil.

Darin

There is quite a bit of originality in the world, first of all the very concept of it\'s existance, being the giant stalactite and all.  You mention the Dwarves, Humans, and Elves, but if you looked close youl\'d see the there are two races in each section of those, and the other human and elven race seem fairly original to me.  And of course there are the 5 other races in the game (Kran, Diaboli, Enkidukai, Klyros, Ynwnn), well Ynwnn are just a combinant race, but still.  It\'s the best idea to have the familiar races and some original ones, since there will always be people who don\'t want to try something new, so you have the boring stereotypical races for them, and the nifty stuff for everyone else!

Oh and about pronoucing the races, aside from Ynwnn, I don\'t see what\'s so difficult about any of them...

Seeing as I am on the developing team in the background/setting dept., all I can say is that I haven\'t heard anything yet about altering any of the existing races. Could be a possibility, but it won\'t become apparent until, well, it does.

As a side-note: mole-men?! What the heck.
