Monketh's Tavern & Merchant Association
« on: August 03, 2003, 10:22:42 pm »
Monketh\'s Tavern & Merchant Association:

Well, I\'m not forming a guild. This is an idea disscussed on the forum. An association the issues seals of approval for Merchants & Taverns, a place to disscuss such things, and an issuer of titles.

Oh, and a gathering place for those who dwell there (cooks, musicians, rogues)

(yes the name can be changed)

Half_Pint

I would like to give this wonderful idea the full support of Mirth Guild.

What could be better after a long journey than a warm, cheerful inn? A very Mirthful idea, Monketh!

I\'m planning to open a tavern myself in-game. Could I join your association?

Monketh

Most Certainly, Mr. Pint. I\'m just looking for enough ppl right now to justify the effort of creating a message board. I don\'t quite have seals to give yet though  .

Now hiring: Head Honchos, Managers, Members, and Assorted employees & minions

The pay is $0.00 by the way

Drilixer

I\'m interested in a strange way... is it possible tyo belong to more than one guild?

Half_Pint

You can\'t belong to multiple ingame guilds, but this isn\'t a guild anyway.

Monketh

Exactly, because if it were a guild almost no one would join. But this isn\'t a guild and will not be operated like one, we will make no allies or enemies*. Just a place for disscussion, and business

*there will be two lists, one of trustworthy and approved traders, and one of nasty cheats, thieves, and scammers.

I think it should be possible to join multiple in game guilds :P then you could action throw in a guild along with this - I mean realistically what is more of a guild than a group of craftsmen or merchants?

I agree completely, Drilixer.  And on the second point I can\'t leave my guild! (well, I could if I was stupid enough to want to)   Anyway, as I have said, this ain\'t a guild because then there\'d be very few members.  It\'s easier this way too.

Edit:Btw, \"Action throw\"? huh?

Sorry Drilixer, no smithies here.  I see you\'ve been reading the \"New Guild\" thread of mine, you\'re free to start the Drilixer Association of Crafting if you want :P

This group covers tavern dwellers (cooks, innkeeps, musicians), and merchants, of course if you start Drilixer Smithing Inc. that would be a business.  But you don\'t have to be a merchant or taverner to join.  As I said above the association might even be used like a bank too.

Just a question Monketh...how do rogues fit into the whole thing?  They don\'t seem to go along with the theme you have...am I missing something?

Oh, good to see another \"not-a-guild\" (;)) around...maybe the devs will start thinking of giving us support now :P

Ok, so maybe rogues aren\'t that important.  Though one could expect some of them to hang around taverns, more like informants I guess.

\'not a guilds\'

there are others?  hmm... being able to join multiple guilds would definately be useful.   But if you were to get some official support and it wasnt in the way of a guild... what would you want for your \'not a guild\'?

/association of course Drilixer, \"/association Monketh\'s Tavern & Merchant Association\" preferably.  An Ability to /guild style chat with other members in game without leaving LW too.  And a forum, but that\'s my job.

Edit: Well the Idea is associations are looser.  So you are obligated to do what you said you would, but mostly it\'s volunteered.  Where as in guilds you get orders (sometimes).  As well as the fact that associations wouldn\'t give as much benefit as a guild.  The whole \"An Ability to /guild style chat with other members in game\" is because I hate using /tell to hold a multi-sided conversation (trust me it\'s hard).
