If you ask the devs to make \'associations\' exactly like guilds, but with different spelling... well you know the answer you will get

what will be the difference between associations and guilds?  The ability to join more than one at a time?

I\'m not sure what Monketh plans...but The BISM (my organization) has been around for a long time and I have posted many ideas in the wish list that would come with support for us...if we were not then there would be no reason to put them in the game.

For an example, here is an idea I had a while back:
http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=2038&boardid=11&styleid=3&page=1

Again, I\'m not sure what Monketh plans and as this is a thread about his association/organization, I will not post the differences as I view them.

I personally think that all this talk of guilds and associations is the reverse of what it should be.  Traditionally, a guild was a group of specialists in a specific profession.  (basically what you are calling \"associations\" and \"not-guilds\").  It would be more appropriate to label most of the current \"guilds\" as associations.  For example, the Black Order and Hellsing don\'t fit the traditional description of guilds.  They are more an organization of people of many professions who have the same beliefs and goals for the game.

I think that a person should be allowed to belong to a proper guild for their profession, as well as a faction.

I couldn\'t have said it better.
I\'m still working out the details of how to run my \"association\" in my head, I\'ll head over to the BISM to check it out when I get the time.

Very good post indeed, Half-Pint.

Btw if you take Shadowhand (for exemple  :D ), it fits the traditional description of a guild: rogues working together.

K i ll stop there cause i don t want to be accused of \"off topic guild promotion\"

PS: Don\'t worry Monketh, you will get rogues around your tavern... Anyway we are everywhere...

Yes, but from other games people get the wrong idea.  And since these guilds are already setup as guilds, we can\'t really shut them down and tell them that they cannot be guilds, then a lot of people would just leave.

That was basically the reason that I created The BISM as an organization, not just so we could get more members through not being a guild but because if people saw the word \"guid\" they would associate us with the others...which just would not work out.

(once again, I\'m really not trying to advertise, sorry)

As I said earlier, we will most likely have some sort of credit.  (Drink now, pay later)  And of course Seperot, as there\'s taverns you won\'t have to worry.  As long as you eventually pay ur bill :P (or unless they make some sort of prohibition for RPing reasons, ie:to make smugglers usefull)

PS: Good to see you on the main forums sep. :)

Btw monketh, i see that you\'re creating a page, that\'s cool. If you need artwork for it (Not web design!!! For God\'s Sake not WEB DESIGN!!!) i can help. Y\'know, like a pic for the [enter] page or stuff.
I was cured, all right.

I probably could use some, could you give me a sample? Btw, Dorbian is both hosting and designing it.  (Thx dorbian!)  I can make or find basic stuff but I\'d be glad to have help (any kind of help).
