question about the game

i dunno if i post on the right one, because i\'m new but plz let me ask this question.

Is the game still in beta version, or test?
Can we start playing right away?
and on the download page, are all of those thing is the only thing you need to dl to play?

Yes those files are the only thing you\'ll need. You should download them, run the \"run me first.bat\" file, and after that run the \"updater.exe\" file to make sure you have all the new files

I guess this belong to the newbie section.
Anyway, this game is in pre-alpha, which means some things work great (you can explore the town, a dungeon, collect crystals, talk to NPC and do a couple of quests), but it isn\'t a complete MMORPG at all : you can\'t fight, can\'t gain XP, there are no monsters, the world is small, you can\'t buy items ingame (but you can by them on a website an have them ingam) etc.

SO you can play right away, but don\'t expect a full MMORPG.

and if you use windows, you have to download everything (about 90 Mo), run the .bat which will assemble the files into 1 install file, and then install the game.

Oh, and before you ask : \"Yes, Planeshift will always be free, even the \"final\" version\"

Just one more question. When the next version comes out (heard rumors about December or so) will i have to download the entire game all over again??

Yes, because the next release won\'t just be adding new material, it\'ll also be changing the game engine, so you\'ll have to download a completely new version. Oh, and it\'s going to be even bigger file size, wahey! I just love the five hours of anticipation while you download.

it took me 24 mins... and there is no pre-alpha. any working version is alpha anything that works well enought to an extent and has all the parts of gameplay that will be in final release but is buggy is BETA!!

I dont think download time is a problem cause im on ADSL but it will be a pain in the butt for all the 56k users to download this game all over again

I generally download it when I see it, but I have DSL so it shouldn\'t take more than an hour.

There is such thing as pre-alpha. The current version isn\'t anything like the finished version. The alpha release will have a completely new engine (I think), and the current release is more like a tech demo.

yes, Lostprophet is right, this IS Pre-alpha...

It is still the same engine, but it will have changed a lot since the engine is also open-source.

Does it being open source mean it may be possible for people to develop mods for the game? That would be pretty cool.

yes you can make your own game content.. of course it would have to be accepted by the devs first, if you want it to be on the main servers :]

hmm... maybe the Devs should throw a giant sign onto the front of the main site and these forums that says \"This game is and allways will be free\"... sort of cheezy but it would attract alot of people if done right...

Yeah and that will also end all the threads and posts asking the same \"is it free?\" question. Every single guy that joins the forums ask the same thing and they always answer with the same \"I have answered this question like a million times, yes...........\"

you guy said new version is coming to in december does that mean i have to dl the stuff for this pre-alpha and then dl the stuff from december to play or does it mean i have to dl the new version coming in december ONLY??? witch is it

oh by the way, this is going to be exciting lets hope that sign stay forever (if it excist.)
