A music for Planeshift
« on: August 10, 2003, 12:09:08 pm »
I was going to create a videoclip, using Hypercam utility to capture the in-game world of Planeshift. But my harddisc crashed recently and I had to reinstall everything, including Hypercam. For some reason it refuses to work correctly now, being unable to produce even low-res videos with framerates higher than 5fps, while system shows 72% free resources. Everything else runs smoothly, including ATI capturing device, which captures video in DVD quality with on-the-fly Mpeg2 compression. So I\'m completely clueless. I keep looking for the solution though, so someday maybe I\'ll have the project done...

But why I posted this:
I have finished the music for the videoclip. And since I can\'t use it in this project, it\'s now available on a webpage as Ogg audio. Take it as kind of a preview. :) Also some other compositions and videos of mine are there for a download.
So what do you think, would you like to hear something like that in Planeshift? :)

The URL: http://george.seven.cz/music

BTW my in-game name is Pouncival.

hehe - don\'t be impatient - sit back and drink a few dozen \'cold ones\'... it\'ll take some time unless you go to the IRC channel and get to know people

The music is good, and fits planeshift very well (reminds me of The Settlers too). But I think the samples are not as good as the ones used in others planeshift musics :(

Anyway, hope you\'ll be accepted for the music department, it\'s always good to see a new talented member : it means the project will progress faster
sig removed, it was kinda big ^^

the music is great, I tested it, a bit coo calm, don\'t have that much changes in it, although it is progressive ; still I really like it and you could have your place in the music dep, at least that\'s my opinion

are your video card drivers updated? do you have a up-to-date directX?

those two things can stop or slow programs from working properly. :)

Thank you Jefka and Saphire.

Saphire: I have the same drivers and DirectX as I had before the crash. And it worked then. Now everything but Hypercam works as before...

Drilixer, dude their has gotta be more to the story than that.  Come on spell it out, the whole story.  I know this isn?t The Hydlaa Plaza but there comes a point when my curiosity gets the better me.  At least tells us what web site this is.

haha - the web site belonged to one of her really weird friends... you see this french exchange student of mine (which we threw out of our house halfway through the year for acting TOO French) used my computer very often.  She hated America and therefore talked alot via msn and other chat programs with her friends back hom.  One day one of her odd ball friends (which she had alot of - I found out later that she had been thrown out of several Swiss schools and is now having to go to a boarding school in Lyon, France) asked her if she wanted to chat via webcam...  she is an idiot so she said yes.  He explained to her how to set up the damn thing with a French Application instead of the one that I had installed.  I came in one day and noticed her talking and looking in the camera, to a reclusive shady looking guy who was hunched over his computer screen and probably hadn\'t bathed in weeks from the look of his hair...  Well I asked her what she was doing and she explained how she was talking to her friends via the camera.  Now I hate the damn camera and I didn\'t trust her so I uninstalled it.  I came back thew next day and it was reinstalled... so I uninstalled it again... this hapened one more time - so instead of uninstalling it I opened up the program to figure out what it was - as I can read French.  The stupid thing had been set to take pictures every minute or so!  And it was broadcasting the files on her stalker-friend\'s website!  That is why I unplugged the camera and threw it out my car window while I was riding to school the next morning... I never liked it anyways :D .  So that is my French-Exchange Student invited a stalker with a web came into my room story.  no - I will not tell anyone the name of that god forsaken site.  And I brought this up because someone mentioned a camera way up there and I remembered it :P

Hmmmm, I wonder if the poor thing didn\'t hit someone out there.
Good story, Drilixer. Off-topic a little, but still good. :)
