« on: August 11, 2003, 09:39:35 pm »
I am looking to start a fairly peaceful guild but to wage war if provoked. a fairly public area. to trade openly and such.  post here if you would be willing to join, or help out.

Hmm... A little on the Sparse side Evan.  What\'s the full name?

Well there\'s already a trade \"Association\" .  And that association kinda wants to be recgonized as the premier trading group/place in PS.  You\'re free to make this guild, but I see it as a business, not a guild.

ok - Evanchild - if this is not a joke you need to work on your roleplaying skills.  part of creating a guild is bringing it to life and at the moment your guild is very much dead.

Hiya ...
Evanchild, maybe you want to make a good joke. Creating a guild is really not so simple ... and then you willl have to take care of it ... to lead it.
Sure, no one can tell you not creating a guild. It\'s only that you won\'t have many chances with it ... I think you\'ve got the point.
And about your ideas ... go play some CounterStrike ;P ...
If you will think how many of us created our guilds ... think I\'ve created the guild 2 years ago ... when there were only 2 guilds ...

A lot of planning and discussion goes into making a guild.
Ask yourself,
Is there a need for this guild, or are there already established guilds in this category?
What is the goal of your guild?
Are there people interested in your ideas?
What matierials will you need? (webpage forum etc...)
How will you need to use, or obtain theese matierials?
And lastly,
Is it worth it?  Guild making and running requires a lot of work.

When you have answered theese questions correctly, you will be able to start a sucessful guild.

Good Luck,
Monketh :)

Edit:Btw, if you are actually serious check out http://www.guildware.net , it\'s a worthwhile project.

Evanchild we arnt trying to discourage you from creating a guilg - just from creating a disorganized one that will become inactive within a month - get organized - maybe invite your friends to help - and then come back here with a stronger base.

Agreed.  Did you know there are over 400 guilds?  How many are active out of those?  Less than one quarter of those are operational active guilds.  So please, think it over before creating a guild, and prepare.

[Edit: Meant to accompany Dril\'s post, but I was too slow.]

Edit:Not you evanchild, whole guilds can decay and go inactive after only a month.
