What to wear
« on: August 15, 2003, 08:02:41 am »
I\'m not sure what can be worn so far, I saw the inventory screen and it shows a few places where you can wear items but here\'s more.

Head- Hats, Helmets, Bandanas, Headbands, Crowns

Ears- Earrings

Neck- Necklaces, Charms, Lockets, Amulets

Body- Armour, Clothing, Gorgets, Cuirasses

Arms- Arm Guards

Hands- Gauntlets, Gloves

Wrist- Bracelets, Watches

Fingers- Rings

Waist- Belt, Buckle, Scabbard

Legs- Leg Guards

Feet- Shoes, Sandles, Foot Armour
My name is NOT pronounced, \"Kway-per,\" it\'s pronounced \"Kye-per.\"

Earrings pry isn\'t such a good idea for something that actually can give stat boosts, since Krans and maybe some others can\'t wear them (as far as I can tell).  For aesthetic purposes that\'s fine though.
Ninjas have feelings too.  Mostly they feel like dancing.

yeah asthetics are always fun - tattoos that give stat/skill boosts like in Planescape would be nice too!

Methinks you mean \'Planeshift,\' not Planescape. You may have gotten two games confused. Even if one of them is  only a tech demo and the other makes you click a lot.

Perhaps you can wear things on the tail, if you have one, or wings, too, perhaps. Of course, the wings probably can\'t really fly witth \'stuff\' on it.

Also, perhaps the shoulder-neck area could be used for wearing things like... Capes, cloaks, wings, and \'really\' heavy weapons. Like that Kran-only siege ballista I saw in anothe rthread. Oh yeah, and quivers, too.

If Planeshift has all these, then I believe that it will be set apart from other RPGs in terms of what you can wear. Even though I have very little experience in RPGs, I think that the earrings alone would \'instantly\' amke it unique. Especially enchanted ones, If not, then the scabbard should.

I never seen how characters fight monsters while carrying lots of loot. Where do they put it if their backpack and other like thigns are full? Or is the backpack th elimiting factor of how much items you can carry, or is a wagon thingy the limit? Hmm...

Ah. The name looks like a croos between That Game and Planeshift, though I doubt that the game actually is.

This would be really cool, as you could mix-n-match armor together, so if one weapon would say decapate your legs or you chose that disadvantage you could wear a specific armor over that body part with a chance to prevent decapatation; meaning that you can have magical leg armor +\'ing speed while wearing something like steel armor [on your chest]. :))

[also in other games it\'s always been plate armor with arms and leg armor attached, meaning that if you got a armor that plus\'d 4 to something, you\'d basically lose a chance to get more plus\'s to the other parts; with this you could have 3 items that plus instead of the 1.]

[[also it could have some things like if there are two armors next to eachother enchanted with opposing forces (light/dark, fire/ice, etc) you could have disadvantages or very bad weaknesses, meaning that you\'d have to seperate armor A from armor B with armor C. not that complicated, but it would make sense. (OMG MY ARM ARMOR ENCHANTED WITH FIRE MELTED MY ICE ENCHANTED PLATE!!! AHHH! :P )]]

i liked that idea about the negative forces of energy between the enchanted pieces of armor... It would be real complicated i would imagine to set in stone... but just something simple like... You cant have White and Black magic items equiped or they cancel each other out...

Simple stuff like-
these dont match-
Red + Blue
Black + white
.... basically stuff opposite on the color wheel

Well obviously your Ub3r 1337 |)347H armor would counteract the angelic halo of holiness.
I agree wholeheartedly on monk robes of course. :)

In response to Drillxer\'s post:

Pack animals would be nice. The only problem I can see is how they can ride the Ptetasaurs (spelled incorrectly) around the city. Unless it is one of those flying creatures, of course. Perhaps there could be \'porte-like creatures\' in the game. Basically like pack animals, but two footed. There could be a limit to how many pack animals/porters you have.

On the topic of pack animals, perhaps they can wear armor as well, and on that topic, why not mounts as well? Of course, only the rich would be able to get their animals and porters full armor on weapons, but still, it\'s going to be an interesting addition.

In response to Dan\'s post:

I like the idea. It does make sense, after al, because I for one have not exactly herad of a holy warrior earing unholy armor. Perhaps if you are wearing a full \'set\' of a particular armor type, you become a kind of \'champion\' in that kind of magic, with bonuses and disadvantages, alhtough you might have to do something else other than just wearing, say, a complete set of holy armor to get those.

What do you think?

In response to others:

Ooh, a halo. Perhpas that could be anothe rarmor type, though it would be rather... odd. People running around with haloes on the top of their heads..

We got from equipment you can wear to pack animals because of the issue I brought up about backpacks/items. And then I went on about pack animals wearing and carrying equipment, as well as mounts.

I apoligize for going off topic, and will now try to stay on topic.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I read about slashing weapon-thingies used on the knuckles, elbows, and perhaps the knees. Perhaps those could be considered here as well. Here\'s the quote:
Quote
as a few idea of my own how about boot and elbow blades like assasins
Perhaps something liek those could be considered as equipment worn.
